Springboks had their first training session in Japan today and over 2000 local Japanese supporters turned up to watch:

They're getting excited about meeting you in the quarters and sending you home.

It’s getting closer, seems like yesterday that Aus put England to the sword at Twickenham.
The future is unwritten.

Seems like yesterday that Johny kicked over that drop goal and beat the Crims in their own back yard.

Maybe Eddie is a mole to bring some payback.

England are 6 wins and 0 against the shackledraggers since 2015, including a 3-0 away series.

210 to 120 points (average score 35 to 20) Embarrasssing.

.....................

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....bong!!!!!!!!!!!

......................

Anyway, back to the RUGBY.

Wales have announced their squad today.

The ginger nut, Patchouli, has been named as back up to Biggar at No 10.

He took control of the 2nd half against Ireland at the weekend, but he needs to sort his barnet out.

Anything to add on the rugby front?

Any news or insights from the Australia camp?

Samson Lee omitted from Wales squad due to questions about durability.

There seem to be a few squads only bringing two tightheads, and entrusting a loosehead to be 3rd cover.

So, what squads are left to announce, Ireland?

I wonder where Sexton and Conor Murray are in their injury recovery process.

I don't think it's even likely they will be picked for the last warm up game against Wales in Dublin this weekend.

It's not as if they have the strongest group, but with Scotland as their opening match the pressure is on.

I did say a year or so ago that they were starting to look like Dad's army. They do have a lot of good young talent coming through, but they are reliant on that Murray-Sexton axis.

I guess that is true of most squads regarding 1st choice No 9 and 10.

Lose to Scotland though and they are up against it with Japan as hosts.

Interesting.

South Africa and NZ are basically betting a 'bye' in the Quarter Finals

Ireland squad announced.

Main omission is Lock Devon Toner. Despite his 67 caps.

Interesting considering their recent problems.

It seems most teas are leaving out some "big" names, which has to be a good sign.

There is also a C Farrell amongst the backs.

They sure have picked a lot of walking wounded though.

...

In other news, Sexton eligible to play against Wales this weekend, having not played this season.

I see the Springboks have recruited ex Irish international - Felix Jones as attack consultant.

The last time we had a Jones as a consultant we won the World Cup.

The phony war is finally over. Just shy of two weeks to go before the start of RWC 2019.

Observations based on recent months fixtures:

- New Zealand, England and South Africa look sharp.
- Ireland, France and Wales possible contenders
- Australia, Scotland and Argentina - an outside chance but they look unconvincing.

It’s going to be hard for Hansen to drop Reece and Bridge. The rest of the team picks itself. Mounga and Barrett in 10 and 15, Whitelock and Barrett at lock waiting for Retalick to return. SBW and Crotty in the centers. Cane, Ardie, and Read the loosies.

You've changed your tune.

Last time you popped up on this place was to say anything other than a semi final would be a disappointment.

Ireland havent become a bad team overnight.

They will won an easy group, then its game on in the quarters against ABs or Saffers.

But, Ireland dont have any Plan B.

But they do have a very efficient Plan A

I believe Sir Warren Gatland has been rubbing baby oil on his balls in final preparation for the RWC.

Any truth in this rumour? Seems like strange behaviour.

I wouldn't bet a kidney or a mortgage on it, or a fiver.

There will be 2 to 5 points in it.

England vs South Africa final

Or, it could become of 12 other combinations.

Besides that game, on Saturday you also have France vs Argentina - possible group decider, as well as Australia vs Fiji - an upset on the cards? Then on Sunday you've got Ireland vs Scotland.

Let the games begin..

I see the wheels are already threatening to come off the Welsh WC campaign, with continuing problems at Half Back.

Former scrum half, and Attack coach, Rob Howley, sent home in disgrace for alleged illegal betting activities. His replacement will be former Fly Half, Stephen Jones.

It has been suggested Steve Hansen is playing "silly buggers" (my suggestion) after saying he had a full squad to pick from for Saturday.

When asked about Brodie Retallick, assistant coach, Ian Foster, replied: "he's progressing really strongly but I'm pretty sure he won't be there on Saturday. But you never know..."
