Pretty much all travel will be for work this year. Lebanon and Jordan next week. And sometime this year:

Houston
Greece
Bosnia
Serbia
Kosovo
Ethiopia

Probably back to the Middle East again. Outside chance, Haiti, Jerusalem, and West Bank.
Your work sounds cool, Mike. With the addition of interesting places to do it in.

I find travel for work pretty exhausting. Preparing and travelling eats into your normal days off, there's the time change to deal with, and I usually have a jam-packed schedule when i get there. Plus, my cat is stressed out from having to stay at a friend's/ In the next couple weeks, I'll spend two days travelling, four giving trainings, and the rest visiting a refugee camp and other areas. I'll be happy I did it afterwards, but it feels kind of daunting looking at it.

Nice tune, great video, looks stunning. Glad it’s all gas discoveries offshore and no oil - would be tragic for a spill to mess that up.
Angolan and Mozambiquan Portuguese - any differences?

Simon, from what I can tell - Angolan & Mozambican Portuguese is the same (except some of the slang), so it's Portuguese Portuguese, though there are a lot more Brazilians In Angola.

All my planned travel for 2019 has been completed. And it was all for work/family reasons. Wuhan, Shenyang, Busan, and Hong Kong. Nothing in the calendar for the rest of the year. Thinking about Japan in the fall. Possibly some SEAsian beach time over the summer. Maybe more trips for work and family reasons again but to Europe or N. America.

I've had to go to Shenyang a few times and probably will have to go a few more times. It's a typical large provincial Chinese city with slightly more history and sites than your average typical large provincial Chinese city, so to visit, 48 hours max would be enough.

Dig a little deeper and it's interesting. The article is correct, the region (Manchuria/Dongbei/Northeastern China) is the country's economically declining rust belt whose industrial heyday has passed to warmer climes further south. It doesn't help that the provincial and local governments of the region are quite conservative when it comes to market reforms from the state owned enterprises down to the small business level. A few years ago, the province recorded negative GDP numbers, unheard of in this day and age of communist China. But Shenyang is a little better off, the aeronautical industry is big there as is the automative industry with a large German presence, enough to warrant a nonstop flight to Frankfurt on Lufthansa. It's history is interesting, since it used to be important, you have a collection of foreign diplomats and consulates. The Qing dynasty that captured Beijing and the rest of China originated as Manchus from Shenyang, so there are smaller versions of the imperial palaces and tombs you find in Beijing. The Japanese also gained their foothold in China by capturing Shenyang and some of the old architecture survives in the old Japanese district. The city is a little diverse, although the local Manchus are indistinguishable from the Han. There's a big Korean population that consists of South Koreans, North Koreans, and ethnically Korean Chinese. Northeastern Chinese have a reputation across the country as being aggressive but I think they're just more direct and don't have the beat around the bush face saving ambiguity that the rest of the country practices and that comes from Northeasterns living in a cold harsh Siberia adjacent frontier area that's seen Mongols, Russians, Koreans, and Japanese fight over it. I think it also makes them more open and friendly compared to other provincial areas of China and like them for that reason.

China and Vietnam in May -June. With maybe a couple days in Manila. Cuba in late December. New Hampshire in August. I’m still considering a couple of days in Mexico to snorkel with whale sharks but things got kinda busy.

Probably a couple weeks in Japan and a week and a half or so for Oktoberfest in Munich. Shorter trips to Palm Springs, Whistler and Hawaii. There is idle talk of a Bahamas trip.
Whistler is already past and I’m currently in Palm Springs chilling by the pool while the boys play with grandma. Japan is booked for May. Oktoberfest still not booked.

Already been Trondheim, Stavanger , Pitlochry, Vienna, Budapest and Strasbourg.
Currently den Haag.

Non work, have a week in Tenerife, annual Orkney shindig, and a wedding in Waterford coming up. Will take a week and rent a car for that, maybe throw in a bit of Kilkenny, Tipperary and Cork.

Yeah we might go to Tenerife at Easter. All easter holidays are dirt cheap at the mo becasue of Brexit. A week in the Algalve, self catering + breakfast thrown in was $102! That includes the flights. Ok, its a dive but for $50 more you can get something reasonable.Trying to talk myself out of it because our roof needs sorting.

I've added NYC to my original list (fun!), and subtracted San Diego (work!). I'll still have some vacation time to use before the end of the year, maybe I can sneak in a trip to Vegas for gambling or Portland to visit friends.

Being as I've just returned, shouldn't be looking and have nothing planned BUT am currently considering a trip to Georgia, via Thessaloniki. This/next month. Need to sort out other stuff/a job before I go though. It's much more fun looking at flights though.

I’ve decided that all my trips this year will be domestic.

I was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras early this month.

Next month I’ll be in southern Utah.

Austin is a solid plan for October. I want to go to Austin City Limits. I might head out to New Mexico after.

These are all weeklong trips.

I was thinking of Glacier National Park this summer, but then I realized why not Alaska? Or Hawaii? Or why not cross the border and go to Montreal or Merida? We’ll see.

At top college tournaments you get to see and actually talk to the top players before they become PGA Players and Stars.
I saw and talked to Jon Rahm more than 10 times when he played for Arizona State University. I saw and talked with Bryson Dechambeau once when he played in Santa Cruz. I have seen dozens of current PGA players play when they were amateurs. My favorites: Jon Rahm (ASU), Doug Ghim (Texas), Bryson DeChambeau (SMU), Brandon Hagy (Cal), Max Homa (Cal), Maverick McNeally (Stanford), Norman Xiong (Oregon). You may not have heard of any or most of these players, but they are the stars of the future.
