My dad went last summer on a boat.

It's pretty, everybody speaks English and you can drink the water. What more do you want, Mexican food?

I was there around 1990 the ferry from Denmark to Iceland made stop there and I stayed about three days. Very interesting, just like Shetland but even wilder. No trees (except a few in people's gardens)

Stopped for a day during a transatlantic crossing five or six years ago. Was interesting how many of the natives resent Denmark while receiving enormous financial support from them. Not technically part of the EU yet they benefit from it. Some talk of producing electricity using ocean floor mounted generators.

I could see spending a week there if the weather was good and you had access to a boat, two or three days if not.

Think I watched the same doco..
At one point the, rather uppity, female Asian reporter was bombasting the local gent on dragging his Philippino wife away from her homeland and culture to this pristine island wilderness, I was kinda like; she's from the Philippines lady, pretty much anything is going to be better than that (No offence EMG)..

It's really really green, couldn't believe how lush it was (was expecting iceland).
Shit is N Yurp expensive, and getting from island to island is via helicopter.
if I can find my pics I will post.
Quite cheap to fly there from KEF , but not cheap once u get there.

4 times?

Opodo indicates you can, from London, do a 6 hour daytime layover in Edinburgh, and return 21 hour layover in Copenhagen. In July, for £360

Having been to do neither, that sounds interesting.

Worked in the seafood industry James.
Pretty much the Faroes one and only export.

It was the best job for an engineering solutions guy like me as usually I work in factories thus my site visits are usually in the worst (industrial) parts of town.
In the seafood industry I was almost always on a coast or a river.
Places I visited with that job (Namibia, S Africa, Faroes, Denmark, Iceland, Scotland, Greenland, Norway, Chile, Argentina,NZ, OZ (but some offbeat places like Taz, or way up the western coast above Perth), Thailand, Vietnam, the Phils, Malaysia, US ( Santa Cruz, Hawaii, Boston), and in Canada the sunshine coast of BC and Vancouver Island. probably other places as well i cannot remember.

Worst was a trade show in Hawaii....the entire trade show venue front entrance was a huge glass wall.
So from your booth you can see people walking in shorts palm trees swaying in the breeze, fucking torture.
No one came to that show other than to run through the booths collecting lit so they could show their employers that they actually did something other than enjoy the fact that they were in Hawaii.
Upside was I brought marge and we stayed on for another 10 days after the show.

Enough of this threadjack, the Faroes are pretty cool, people are very friendly (I think Danes are the most laid back scandi's by far) and it's really green.

I met a Haitian woman in Reykjavik whose boyfriend or husband (I forget which) was from there. She was fine with it, she said.
