I will drink 9-12 pints this weekend. And I only drink on weekends. And I have just begun drinking again in the past 2 weeks as the bf is away. I will not drink on the weekends once he returns.

I'm not an alcoholic. Alcoholics go to meetings. I'm a drunk. We go to parties.

Only on weekends. 4-5 pints each day on Sat/Sun. Occasionally on weekends I don't drink. Every couple of weeks I'll drink on a weekday.

I actually can't recall the last time i had a drink. Dagnabbit. Must change that.

No wait! About a month or so ago. It was a work mid-winter Christmas party and it was the weak after I came back to work after being pukey mcpukerson with some stomach bug.

Shit I'm virtuous.

I only had two drinks. How depressing. I like wine and I like gin. And cocktails. And I could have had all of them but didn't. Instead I had one, didn't finish the second one and went home.

I will definitely be changing that before I head away on holiday in 6 weeks.

Usually either a gin n tonic or a coopers dark beer at a nighttime..

I worry over that and try and go dry a few days here and there.

Yeah, I may have used a similar line once or twice myself.

As for my intake it's definitely higher than recommended but on the other hand it's a bit hard to work out as lately I've taken to drinking in a couple of brewery taphouses and the beers come in halves or two thirds) depending on strength. Once upon a time a session-y beer would clock in around 4% but at these taphouses it's all too easy to drink something that's 7% or even higher and being crafty type stuff you don't always notice the strength (until it's Too Late).

I got a hold of Baltica beer once in Baku. Which had like a "12" on it. A lovely dark beer which I quite fancied. But I did not know that the higher the number the greater the alcohol. Good lord I was on my ear in no time!

This was the beer list at a recent tap takeover. Some of that stuff was pretty lethal......so much so it was sold in 1/3 pint glasses (and how can anything that small cause any trouble at all.......snort).

Maybe one drink every 6 months? I don't have the time or energy or money to drink.

I am definitely out there: between 50 and 100. 10 being a bottle of red wine, which is about all I drink. Some weeks it is a bottle or 2 6 nights, sometimes 3 or 4 nights.

Way too much. I like it. I still work 12 to 15 hours a day so I guess I am functioning. But I need to cut back or stop.

I was going to create a seperate thread but decided to "threadjack".

Do you think the word "Alcoholic" will ever fall out of use. We really shouldn't name people after their diseases should we? For example. "The New Hampshire State School" used to be called "The New Hampshire School for the Crippled and Feeble Minded". It's almost laughable by today's standards. People aren't their medical condtions yet it seems perfectly fine and said almost gleefully about people who suffer from alcohol use disorder.

Why is that?

Heh, Manch. There's a very long thread where people discuss calling people things like "alcoholics" or "schizophrenics" versus saying that they "have schizophrenia" etc. Some people just don't see the difference.

Thanks Scrubb. In true PS fashion I won't seek out the other thread but beat it to death here.

I'ts just a simple question. Why is it OK to call someone who suffers from the disease of alcoholism an alcoholic and not OK to call someone who is confined to a wheelchair a cripple.

I haven't found a single person who can explain that to me a rational manner.

Mine should read how many drinks in a month.... Dunno, maybe 4 or 5.

I don't like what alcohol does to me these days... I used to be a happy drunk and a happy person even 10 years ago. Life changes, sometimes badly. I know lots of folks who turn to the bottle when things are bad... for me, booze just exasperates the situation.

Plus too, I can't afford to drink.... See my previous post from awhile ago about how expensive beer is in Canada... It's crazy.

My normal used to be 2 bottles of wine and 2/3 beers per week but I now drink one bottle of wine less.

I'm a Saturday drinker,I have to drink on a Saturday night and I have to get drunk...I love having a good drink...it's joyous,I'm a happy drunk and I think it's good to now and again get off your head and have a laugh.
