Free stays!

Post by ManchVegas » Wed Jul 11, 2018 2:25 pm

So, I'm desperate for a little help around the house and don't really have the money to pay anyone. So, I'm willing to barter. Stay in my bed and breakfast in exchange for some light housekeeping. I've still got lots of dates available. Don't worry. I won't work you to death like I did to Usher! It's really whatever you feel like doing.

I totally would Manch, unfortunately I have a very hectic summer. Have booked weekends with friends already as well as potential procedure.

Maybe in September I can swing by.

Yeah Cowotown. You don't have to do a lot. Whatever you feel like.

Thanks TXGirl. I hope you're OK. Potential procedure doesn't sound good.

For real? I'm taking off the first half of August, probably. I have train tickets to NYC on the 2nd, and a return from NYC to DC on the 15th. Was planning on heading up to Montreal, but have never been to Manchester. I have a Squeegee certificate.

Hey strife. Yes the offer is for real but I do have some bookings in the pipeline that I need to honor. They were made in good faith.I feel I have an obligation to honor them even though it takes me an hour to make a bed and I sometimes have to crawl around on all fours like a fucking animal to get things done. I have a couple staying from August 1st until the 12th BUT I do have a guest room that's available. You are absolutely more than welcome to that

Jess, Think Alice from the Brady Bunch.

Of course, revenue is most important. I'll probably still go straight to Montreal, but I've never been to Manchester. I'm curious.

Well, the offer is there Strife.

Jess, LOL. I always thought Alice was a lesbian in real life. They tried to match her up with Sam the butcher on the TV show but I never bought it.

They're not really sure what's wrong with me. I had 6 labs done so far and they show that there's a muscular skeletal thing going on so it's not all in my mind. My Dr has even agreed to underwrite my disability claim. From my symptons I think I have RA which would account for my fatigue.

That's a real issue too. I appreciate the suggestions that people give me. My brother in law suggested water arobics for exampe but I only wish I was at that level of functionality. That's how I knew it was time to change my status from able bodied to disabled. I had a friend suggest going for walks and getting some sun. I was like "You don't really understand what I'm going through". When I talk to disabled friends they're like "You just know it!" no one will believe you but you just know it.

No offense meant with the yoga suggestion, just unsure of the disability issue, as you are too it appears
Sometimes its not one thing but many and even when they know, there is little they can do - hope that's not the case for you

No offense taken. It just sucks. This emotional roller coaster you go through. You don't want to believe that you may be disabled. So you wait a few days and think you'll be back to normal. Then a few weeks and it still doesn't happen. It's funny. I knew things had changed when I sometimes have to take a piss sitting down. That's a game changer. I was telling that to my sister and she's like "Big deal. I've been doing that all my life!" but as a guy you know the rules have changed.

She was a born-again who travelled around giving talks to people about accepting CHrist as their personal savior. I think she spoke at my brother's school at some point. Of course everyone wanted to ask her about the Brady Bunch but she just wanted to talk about Jesus.

Lol. No one from the Brady Bunch really wants to talk about their experience. Maureen McCormick who played Marcia wrote a book. She had a really hard time after the show ended. She basically sold her body for drugs and booze. So tragic. None of them did well after. The father died of aids. It's like there's a curse on the show.

Lol. Florence Henderson did go on to become the Wesson Oil queen. I remember seeing her on a talk show and she said she'd have to spit out the fried chicken after each take because it was just too much to eat after each commercial.

Can someone with internet skill please link a Florence Henderson Wesson Oil ad here?

That was a joke on the Golden Girls BTW. Dorothy reads a personals ad that states: "Wanted. Asian woman who bears a resemblance to Florence Henderson and has a fondness for Wesson Oil." ........LOL. Priceless!

I think that all of them bar Maureen McC wanted to milk that show forever. They kept coming back for reunion shows and whatnot.

Florence H did not have sex with Greg. In HIS book, he said he took her "on a date." She said, that was NOT a date!

In early Bradys, Sherwood Schwartz wanted Mr and Mrs to show more PDA than shows like that had in the past. But Florence went to him and said, "don't make that man kiss me." Why not? said SS. "Because he's a homosexual, and I can tell that it's very uncomfortable for him."
SS would not give up. "But how do you KNOW he's homosexual?" FH: "I know how [hetero] men respond when I'm kissing them!!"

as long as Eight Is Enough remains in living memory, The Brady Bunch will always seem like Shakespeare. They had the bald guy dad who appeared to be reading his lines off a card in a monotone, the interchangeable adolescents, and that weird gnome-like little kid.

Whenever they had a reunion show, everyone was available to work. Nobody ever had a better offer. Grant Goodeve (who's sister I went out with) tried his luck in Nashville, but lacked the Osmond-like magic to cross over.

On set happiness seemed dependent on whether the "dad" actor was a good guy. At the top of the heap seems to be Little House on the Prairie. Not only did Michael Landon have chiseled good looks and great hair, he was a nice man who treated his on-screen kids like family (in a good way).

At the bottom, apparently, was the ALF dad. Apparently a tyrant and a real prick.

I have the Brady Bunch Cook Book. I made the dad's spaghetti sauce recipe and it was really good. Can't for the life of me find the damn book. I also made Marcia's "Oh my nose!" cookies.

I don't recall Robert Reed ever making spaghetti sauce, just nibbling at whatever Mom or Alice was making.

The TV series cookbook looks to be extinct. The Sopranos cookbook was great because it was all food that no Italian would ever make.

See also, the TV Series lunch box and board game.

Chip, on the show he didn't but in real life was a quite a good cook. On the show he always did the fake tasting thing. There's nothing really in the pot and the spoon is empty.

Raven, I love those themed cook books.
