One of the plans that came up took 2 pro divers to escort each novice.
That was the report I read this morning. Two divers for each kid, one of them carrying the kid's air supply during the exit.
I enjoy reading NorthAmerican's posts. So well-written and interesting except for the dull parts.--Nines

There are conflicting reports in the news sources I read, BBC said the weakest kids were taken out first after evaluation from doctors, Dutch media reported the strongest kids were taken out first. I wonder which one is true.

Also conflicting reports about 'oxygen', some report it's the tanks, other said it's the oxygen level in the cave.

But not much conflict over the downpour there now. Wish there was a mega umbrella to put over the whole area.

I'm sorry this is a stupid question, but I assume it is better for the boys to be active participants in the dive. But if they freaked out or couldnt dive (remembering they were initially speaking of having to train the kids to dive or swim) could the diver/s sedate them and drag them out if necessary? I realise that would be extremely taxing on the diver but wondered what would happen if a kid, say, freaked out or couldn't dive.

If, in a usual diving situation, a diver for instance became unconscious (eg knocked on the head) would they continue breathing normally in their breathing apparatus, enough to be rescued or taken out by a co-diver?

I've never dived obviously.

You’d probably lose the tension to hold the reg in your mouth and drown.

Deffo can’t sedate them.

The best way to describe what they’re doing is passing the boys through the water, like a big sausage, the person at the front end has the tank on their back and a reg from that is for the boy, you’d almost hold hands and pull them along, then someone behind to push them through.

The less the boy does the better, he just needs to focus on breathing, and holding the guide line.

But what do I know? I’m sure we’ll get a full run down afterwards

I’m surprised they didn’t use these. The tank is tiny, no need to worry about tangles and what not.

Dc, no a full face mask wouldn’t fall off, but would it still work if you’re unconscious?

They are using full-face masks for the boys, not the kind of regulator you hold in your mouth. I don't know how the full-face masks work, but they are said to be easier for inexperienced divers.

Sedation still doesn't sound like a great idea to me. Most of the way is walking, with some climbing.

Face mask: Still they’re buddy breathing off the front diver with the tank, connected with a hose. Still tricky considering hose length etc

True short time for each spare air. And the boys will be rinsing through air due to anxiety, huffing etc.

Because you’d need to inhale to get air, when unconscious maybe it’s more shallow breathing?

Thanks. I wasn't thinking sedated the whole way (or maybe I was originally) but more if the kid freaked out or something happened. But thank you for that explanation, jess.

Buoyancy control has to be hell when you're pushing along a kid who's never been diving.

itll be interesting to how they’ve done it

Boyancy be ok, easy to control someone else when you have space , but how are they going to squeeze them through the narrowest portion with a bcd on whilst attached to a tank in front of them?

And visibility is probably zero.

I wouldn’t think that there was much deep diving. Mostly just in the passageways that were completely in water. The sections where there were pools but area overhead they could be on the surface.

I’ve always gone negatively buoyant in caves and lava tubes. It’s easier to crawl than is to swim in confined spaces.

The screenwriters of the eventual movie will have to give a lot of thought to how they convey the nine days in total darkness.

No. Commercial cave open to the public which suddenly and unexpectedly began to fill with water. He led them to higher ground and kept them alive for nine days. He is being considered a hero in Thailand.

Most Thai males spend a short period of time as a monk. As an indicator of future behavior or whatever, it's not very meaningful.

Not that I'm going to join in on casting any judgement on this situation at this point, just don't think that saying the guy was a former monk has any real meaning here.
