Backward walking Chinese

Post by mad hatter » Wed Feb 14, 2018 7:53 am

Like Veronica In Heels (Shangcouver) & dBro (BoxJing) I live in Chinese expat central. This evening I drove to the supermarket to get a few things incl a bottle of Dingo Shiraz (I like a good Dingo red). On the way I passed a Chinese Lady walking uphill backwards, I'm no longer surprised. At the supermarket I had to navigate a family of fresh off the boat Chinese with their little shit kids getting in the way, no instructions from parents for them to get out of the way, common.

Relay your "Backwards walking Chinese" moments.

I used to work with a New Zealander with terrible cauliflower ear. He was my supervisor and once mistakenly gave me a bad assessment for a lesson he didn’t even observe. I went and found a job with half the hours and twice the pay (and more than he was making) and told him to go squeeze the kiwi.

The Chinese definitely don’t do orderly public space. They don’t have the kind of walking queueing control of kids etiquette we are used to.i live near a very Chines part of Sydney and it is a totally different experience on the roads and sidewalks and shops.

I live in that shit. There is no order or logic in anything people do here. They’re 100% unaware of anything happening around them.

I regularly see people walk into fixed objects.

Unfortunately, here they have a habit of driving into fixed objects.

The Chinese are vile tourists. I never knew that until last week in Sri Lanka. The place is crawling with them. Nasty. I now support visa regimes for them. But Ialso read that they are the #1 monied tourist demographic. The future is fucked.

Pretty much, If that includes bulldozing 1940's Californian bungalows, and various other single dwelling types, and building multi story apartment blocks in their place, then occupying them against all international laws, then yes.

I liked Sri Lanka. Especially the mountains. Forests of pine trees-that was a surprise. Looked like N. America.

Bu the Chinese--hiking and playing music along the trails in the national parks. Vile.

lots of Chinese tourists in Malaysia and thailand too. They don't seem to bad. Indians straight out of India are the benchmark for all aspects of the most disgusting facets of human behaviour. I rarely feel like punching a Chinaman but beating the crap out of Indians should become an internationally recognised past time.

I totally get that and I agree. And support the beating the crap part.

Which amazed me in Sri Lanka as I was relieved when the next large group coming towards us were dotheads.

I expect fair amount of Chinese in tourists areas. The other day I was in an Ayurveda shop popular with the locals. I’ve seen a tourist once or twice in there. As I was paying for my sandlewood oil, large group of Chinese came into the shop, almost knocked me over. They were quite loud and abnoxtious. I blame the owner for letting so many people at the same time. It’s small shop. I had to fight my way out of the shop.

One "no speak English Chinese one year in Canada "drove into me and parked on my ass. I spent one year in physiotherapy.
Another Tboned my husband. Didn't stop on a stop sign. He was seriously injured and has a surgery looming.

Just go back to China and die.

When I was in Jackson Wyoming a couple of years back there were a lot of Chinese tourists. I hit the town square whenever I could for a chance to see a Chinese parent holding a pissing and/or shitting baby over a trash can. No such luck. That's the Holy Grail of bad Chinese tourist behavior, isn't it?

Interesting. In my experience from above I didn't really notice anything worse from the Chinese than any of the other tourists there. And I was looking specifically for bad stuff after the horror stories from Cuchulain in Singapore.

ok that's bad. Americans do that too out in the boonies - usually it's at camping areas though. I don't like that.

I don't think Chinese tour groups look unthinking or disorganised at all.

They're appraising us. You can tell they see us as just the funny savages living on the edge of their quarry. As long as we keep digging up stuff and giving it to them in exchange for a few coloured beads, we'll be fine. But if we get too uppity, they'll come in and squish us and help themselves.

They're compiling a report to take back to the Hive Mind on whether we're still sufficiently docile.
