Queen with Adam Lambert - this Sunday

Post by k2w3 » Tue Feb 13, 2018 11:39 pm

Off to this show. Looking forward to it.

Before any of you smart arse condescending types comment, note the amazing reviews this show has received around the world. I can't be bothered linking. See Google.

Brian May is no slouch. Enjoy the show, K2. I wonder if they'll be playing Spenard?

All I have here is either David Copperfield (again), or Cher. Thanks, but no thanks.

Jealous! I was hoping to go as I had flights to Auckland this weekend. But no.

Have a great time. Apparently one great thing about Adam Lambert is that he doesn't try to be FM, he is his own act. Which is good.

All the nay-sayers are full of shit. That was the best concert I've ever seen. Loud, rock, just awesome.

Taylor is looking old (he is old) and isn't as sharp as he was but still pretty damned good. May, though, is incredible. Still fast and agile on the guitar, and moves like a man 20 years his junior.

Adam Lambert is perfect in that front man role. Camps it up even more than Freddie, which is a hoot. And what a voice - the man is an incredible singer - great range and power. He made the songs his own, too.

The lighting and backdrop was amazing.

Average age of the punters was probably 50 or so but there were a lot of younger ones there. My 2 girls loved it also. They didn't know all the songs but they appreciated it for the spectacle.

Super impressed. First time I've seen Queen live (my one regret growing up was not seeing Freddie), so I'm a happy man to finally have seen at least 1/2 the original group, with Lambert doing a fine stand-in.

In the style of singing, he was definitely more camp than Freddie. In overall showmanship, maybe not quite.

I believe that actually these days the artists make most of their money from touring tickets and merchandise, the big $ have gone out of albums sales.

May is/was one of the world's greatest guitarists. All members wrote songs and 3 of the original 4 sung songs. Freddie was a top showman, agreed, but he wasn't the only star. You're an idiot, and anti fishing/hunting too, which makes you an uber-idiot.

Tried to find an online pic of the same t-shirt, Chip, but can't. Has the News of the World Robot's face on the front and Queen + AL with tour dates/venues listed on the back.

I don't buy t-shirts with that sort of stuff on them usually, because they are way over-priced and I tend not to wear stuff like that anyway. Prefer non-branded plain t-shirts. I guess it was more a reminder of the time with wife & kids - brings it back in years to come. Like a wearable photo :)

No doubt queen were more than Freddie Mercury, but this still smacks of paying to watch Paul McCartney shit in a portaloo with a rickenbacher in his hand.

I was looking forward to it, but was thinking along the same lines and worried it might be naff, but it wasn't. It was great. And fantastic to see/hear songs in the flesh that I've heard a thousand times growing up. Songs that I first heard when I was my kids' age. Neat that they're playing to, and being enjoyed by three generations.

I saw Queen in 1974 or 5.

I was underwhelmed cause I'd seen Roxy Music within a week or so.

Adam Lambert was born in 1982. That was a big year for the artist known as Adam Ant (AKA Stuart L. Goddard, b. 1954). God, he was such a hottie--whose posters adorned your walls?

This is the correct answer.

He's now a PhD in astrophysics who writes a column in Astronomy magazine. I think he's on the editorial board too.

He also does Starmus every year. https://www.starmus.com/
