Guru;
90+% of all men will take sex whenever they can get it 90+% of the time.
vs
90+% of all men will take sex whenever they can get it 90+% of the time in the context of a consenting relationship.

I think you needed to spell that out.

I think if you’re already thinking about what you’ll be missing whilst entering into a relationship with this man, you already know it’s not the relationship for you.

90% of 90 is 81%.

Four out of five men being sex-starved horn dogs sounds about right.

I disagree w Jess. It sounds to me like it's nice and you don't want it to end.

Maybe it doesn't have to.

Jess missed the point; Dragon didn't.

My mother is served coffee in bed every morning at 7am. I like brushing my teeth, walking my dog, and having a shower before I have my morning tea, so I don't necessarily want that, but I'd like to have someone who'd be willing to do that.

Sorry, my bad.

You’re understandably worried about a relationship taking a turn for the worst.

The only way you’re going to find out, is if you go for it. Might be the best thing you’ve ever done, might be the worst. Won’t know until you try.

Enjoy good things while they are happening. Don't waste too much energy worrying when it's going to end....if it does, deal with it then. Otherwise, enjoy it.

I scratch his back nearly every night. He's got a scar from lung surgery 20 years ago and it itches like crazy. So he wants hard scratches. Sometimes he falls asleep in the middle of it. So about a year's worth now?

actually though doesn't your ex still do nice things for you? i thought he just didn't have sex with you. i mean not "just;" i mean that's a big deal. but i thought it wasn't about him not doing nice things for you.

or basically maybe you want to know how long an actual good relationship with sex can go on? the answer is quite a while, it seems.

Oh I know it can. According to my parents, at least.

My ex did and still does things for me, but he never touched me during the last phase of our relationship, so no backrubs. I've always been very physical, but that experience made me appreciate physical contact even more.

My ex gave really good massages. She even bought oils and stuff for it. I miss those a bit when I have a headache. I could just get a massage for like $4 but it's not the same.

Neither of my two long relationships lost anything over time that they started with really. But it is still a consideration I have when thinking about getting into another one. What if the sex stops. Or they turn out to be crazy. Or completely let themselves go.

hmmm kinda wondering with SkiGuy, if we´ll ever be comfortable with the Laundry And Dinner stuff. So far, as per usual, I keep pushing him away...b/c yeah it´s all so temporary (with every guy for me, except beloved OsloGuy ....)

for now, am enjoying/appreciating how generous he is physically:) I like him. I don´t love him. I think I´ve only ever loved OsloGuy.

And, SkiGuy is maybe too sportyAF for me,) His extremesports Skiing etc is exhausting. I´ve already said no to any of it,) Jasus.

A little bit of running fingers is nice, a lot and every night would annoy me. Personally I prefer a firmer massage, a nice cuddle or sex. I can't imagine the affection ending, but probably nobody ever can until the relationship nears a close. What's the rest of your relationship like? That'll be the key. If the rest has legs then the touching can last too.

Never!

Except when I'm asleep, of course. I like to be left alone when I'm sleeeping.

It's too early to say what the rest of our relationship is like. We get along well, but I get along with a lot of people.

Ah. I'm fucked, then.

Dunno. I got used to having a decent sex life now that I'm single. Do I want to ruin that by being in a relationship? #scarredforlife
Well we know your ex was a bit broken in that regard, but 90+% of all men will take sex whenever they can get it 90+% of the time. Now if you want loving small talk and back rubs and long cuddles afterwards that’s probably another matter.
I thought so.
Dammit.
I was probably a bit too pessimistic on that. When you live together particularly with kids there is just a lot of time with work and laundry and chores and meals and getting kids organised. It’s inevitable that that all wears you down a bit and often when its evening and bedtime everyone is exhausted and thats it. But that doesnt mean there aren’t times for good times and back rubs and other sexual and non sexual physical contact there are. It just isnt the same as the early days for most, and its kind of inevitable but it doesnt mean it has to be a cold and distant relationship. Mrs G and I are actually having something of a Renaissance at the moment as we have two independent kids with drivers licenses and at least one of them is often not at home so we are going out to eat together more often, going for long drives together for fun more often etc. But there was a good 20 years in the middle where there was not no intimate moments by a long stretch, but a lot of life was pretty operational and transactional. I am hoping it is all upside from here and it does look like it.

Yeah, it's like n_g says, really. No, he doesn't rub my back every night. Yes, he does it every time he notices me looking sore or massaging my own neck while I sit. Or if I ask.

If he's awake when I go to bed, there are a few minutes of snuggling.

When I was having hot flashes every evening, he'd jump up and bring me an ice pack/freezer bag. Every time.

He still tries to pick up food that I'll like when he does the grocery shopping. And I get treats for him.

He makes little gestures all the time. Sometimes really little, but they're there. And vice versa.

And that's after living together for 20 years and 2 months.
That’s beautuful, Scrubb.

I hope I can have something like that with my partner.

Exman and I were still giving each other occasional massages, making each other's coffee, in fact so many small expressions of affection that I can't really even name them all right up to the end. I am just reminded of them reading here.

We still had an irreparably broken relationship though. Just made it survivable while we were together.
