World Cup of Cheese

Post by GLimpet » Tue Jul 10, 2018 7:24 pm

So I'm drinking Italian wine with good barbecued Scottish steak. Nothing happening.

Then I go on to agreed Gouda and a somewhat similar Swiss cheese, https://www.mellischeese.net/product/apressoleil/, nothing happening.

Then I open a ripe camembert and Umtiti scores immediately!

Does Croatia make any good cheeses?

You can take your own special brand of cheese to the food branch.

Check out the Venezuelan beaver cheese while you're there.

Totally off-topic but I just heard a deGaulle story that I liked.

When de Gaulle pulled out of the military side of NATO and insisted that all foreign troops leave French soil, Lyndon Johnson insisted that the US ambassador ask if that included the 60,000 Americans who were buried there.

I've told this story before.

When I first moved to London i sent a photo to a school friend i have known since I was 4, sat in a bar that was frequented by all the French during WW2. It's in Soho.
The French House, I believe.

He sent me a photo of his Grand Pere ? sat in wartime cabinet with De Gaulle in London.

What a cunt - eh?
