Taco's favourite English commentators

Post by Stephen_Dedalus » Thu Jun 28, 2018 2:17 am

The complete Idiot has said he likes the English commentary.

I'm wondering what his favourites are?

I miss them all from the EPL. FOX is employing only one, a pre/post-match studio chick who is fuckable. Everyone else is a Yank except for one Mexican and Gus Hiddink. The Mexican is pretty funny, but completely homer.

Fox is horrrible. I cringed when the won the rights. NBC killed it 4 years ago.
The girl, i kant be bothered to learn her name makes the NBC girl, rebecca lowe, look hot, and thats not really a compliment.
Then they march out gus hiddinck and clearence seeeeedorf to talk about the games, fuck you.
Fox didnt even bother sending enough commentators, as some games are called by dudes watching the game in la, seriously, WTF.

The only thing fox did right was hire jorge perez-navarro to call games.

He's probably listening Alan Green on Radio 5...the belligerent one...he's a great commentator.

Are you able to understand anything Ally McCoist is saying?

Who thought having a mumbling Glaswegian was a good idea?

He's amusing though.

I've seen two from Fox, one from Australia, a handfull in russian, and the rest from bbc.

Fox had one duo where neither seemed to speak english as their first language. One called korea north korea and the other referred to the mexican side as "our team"

The russians talk too much, but i have no idea what theyre saying.

The bbc commentators are all pretty good. I like when they say very british things like, "what a naughty boy!" I think the scottish one is my favourite. One of them, while talking about a maneuver by a japanese player said he "nipped in to the penalty box." Whoops!

The Australian broadcast only had one commentator and he sounded English to me. He focused on play-by-play, and not much colour. I liked it more than i thought i would. Actually more subdued than the bbc commentary and made it easier to focus on what was happening without being biased by the opinions that most other commentators throw out.

He's funny. I like the fact he's reading about Russian history.

It's a shame he played for Rangers

I don't think I ever said I like the English commentary. I think I said I found it funny one time that they were unable to contain themselves while England was playing.

That said, I watched about a half a game with American commentators from Fox and it just felt wrong. They didn't seem to know what they were talking about, and seemed confused by some calls, as if they weren't aware of why calls were being made.

I stick with BBC.

RTÉ is generally shite, but it does soccer commentary and punditry better than any English or French or Italian language broadcaster I've seen.

We get a collection of English ones down here on SBS, and my favourite is Martin Tyler as he is always interesting for me to listen too.

Like his take on the Colombia-England game were there was loads of over acting [Mainly by the Colombian's] as an English player who went down clutching his face after a slight touch to his chest, Tyler's reaction was to say 'he was playing the game as they do in modern tournament's now' !!

He used to do the voice over on a magazine programe on Serie A we used to get on SBS down here, and i guess he has been my favourite commentator on the 'world game' ever since.

The SBS broadcast of Eng Col is the one I watched and enjoyed. Do all of the SBS broadcasts use a single commentator instead of a pair?

The fact that he's reading is quite an achievement then.
Still, about the only Rangers player and manager whom you could describe as "well-liked".

FOX is taking a bath on this. Ratings are down 42% in the US thanks to not having a team there, and the exquisite time zone.
'
The problem is they outbid NBC and ABC with $500,000,000 before they knew the US would crap out in T&T.

All the games i have watch on SBS there has been only one calling the game, and 3 so called experts who do give their thoughts on the game leading up to it, and after the game also.
