The anger, vituperation, deliberate misinterpretation, outright lies and abusive nature of your posts, Maxwell. I have nothing invested in the partisan battles of the American polity, but they are influencing other Western nations like mine. They are not in the least bit "Christian".

Nothing wrong with being a conservative. Nothing wrong with being a liberal. Neither are the devil incarnate. There are plenty of Christian socialists. The idea that Christ was a fiscal conservative is nonsense developed by the modern right to lend a moral base to their amoral creed, and they like to use religion to judge people too. Pharisees all.

Just as the commandment "Thou shalt not kill" sets a clear limit in order to safeguard the value of human life, today we also have to say "thou shalt not" to an economy of exclusion and inequality. Such an economy kills.

How can it be that it is not a news item when an elderly homeless person dies of exposure, but it is news when the stock market loses two points? This is a case of exclusion. Can we continue to stand by when food is thrown away while people are starving? This is a case of inequality.

Certainly you're right that scripture says effectively nothing about the role of government. But it says nothing either way. So, there are many Christians who interpret the exhortations to help the poor as speaking to the goals that government should have. It seems clear that Pope Francis, who I quoted above, is squarely in this camp. I do not believe these people are bad Christians.

I believe that it's the motive of each individual heart that's important. My belief is government wastes more than my a Christian organization. Therefore, I'm a better steward of money. That's scriptural in my opinion.

So you think something written 1,500 years ago should be applied word for word in the 21st century?

Do you drive a car? Have a refrigerator? Watch television? Go to the supermarket? Vote? None of these things are taught about in the scriptures.

I think your selective interpretation of the Scriptures is self serving and used to justify a religion that has become a perverted version of the Lord Jesus's message.

Flipping burgers is entry level employment for high school students to gain work experience, not as a career. Get your GED and take some night college courses and make something of yourself, you deadbeat.
