You just have to live a Bourdain life.

Couple of weeks ago, in Shanghai, couldn’t raise any interest in the 8th cheapest Michelin Star restaurant so we went to a famous street dumpling place. You point at pictures of dumplings, pay the lady and queue up at a window with your dumpling ticket.

Tasty dumplings full of hot juice that squirted all over each other’s shirts. This is what Anthony Bourdain would have enjoyed, we all said. True story!

I had xiao long bao at Din Tai Fung last week. Twinsies!

I watched a decent travel show not long ago and thought "this is great, I need to remember the name of this show so I can recommend it to others!" and now I've forgotten it.

To be more exact: one of our party squirted dumpling juice over his shirt, another over her skirt and missed me, Kurt didn’t like his dumplings and only I was free of dumpling juice and having a good time.

That’s when I felt like Anthony Bourdain.

Afterwards, we went to a rooftop cocktail bar and drank drinks with lychees in them.

My boss asked for a spoon and fork. I had to explain how soup dumplings operate.

I AM Bourdain.

Best soup dumplings are in Taiwan not China = fact.

Yeah, it's a bummer.

Can't wait for Korky to chime in, I'm certain he'll have some kind words to share on his favorite TV personality.

A buddy of mine ate at the place Bourdain and Obama ate together just a few hours ago. I saw his posts on Facebook.

I'll be doing that next year if I continue with my Vietnam/Laos motorbike plan.

It's funny if you go on organized tours to Vietnam with Taiwanese tour companies many of them advertise they stop there.

There is a seafood restaurant near the Miao Kou Night Market (庙口夜市) in Keelung and there are pictures of Anthony Bourdain on one wall and Zimmern on the other. It is one of the best seafood feasts I've ever had; lobster fried with basil, steamed oysters, beer and a plate of sea urchin for $50 USD.

is it that place emg went to? i wanna hoover all the stalls.

emg, you'll have so much fun in laos. the roads are killer though. maybe not unlike the philippines, i dunno. wind-ey, dusty, potholes, it takes forever to get anywhere.

No, not the same place. Mine was Addiction Aquatic in Taipei. No Bourdain pictures.

Windy, dusty, potholes sounds exactly like Philippines roads. Plus landslides, strays, etc.

i watched part of one of the new episodes -- i liked it. the one about Hawaii. seems like these arent really about Bourdain, which is good --(most likely, he doesnt even write the narration that he reads.)

Or maybe you’ve just missed the last decade of Bourdain, he was a much different person in, say, 2015 than 2003

why would you say that? he's a writer and author of several books. he talks like he writes too. have you followed any of his career?

He said something mean about vegetarians, so Korky is going to hold that against him until the day he dies. And several decades thereafter, it appears.

i just meant i liked the episode for the history and the food -- he doesnt interest much

(btw, i never said i had not seen any recent shows before -- didnt i mention that before? his career has been discussed extensively on other threads.)
