Mascarpone cheese

Post by bundes » Sun Aug 05, 2018 11:03 pm

I was really surprised at the price of it.

I just paid $12.28 for a tub of it. And its not even a fancy imported kind, just the only one available at the grocery store.

That's double what it would be here, assuming similar tub sizes.

That's actually not bad, maybe a bit cheaper than here in Anchorage.

Most of the tubs I see here are around half that size.

Hmm, maybe I'll shut up then about the price.

Ha. I will probably only have a tiny bit of the final product, just enough to try it.

I prefer savoury over sweet.

I only used half of the mascarpone, any suggestions what to do with the rest?

What do you use it for bundes?
I buy liberte. 40% fat. The one you posted seems to be lower in fat. 35%, but it probably doesn’t make much difference.

The creme fraiche I use with caviar and a smoked salmon pasta salad.

This is what I made today.

I got a lot of figs and wanted to do something with them besides eat 20 fresh each day like I've been doing for a week.

I mixed the mascarpone with a bit of honey and almond extract and spread it over a puff pastry sheet and then drizzled a bit of honey before baking. Turned out really good.Image

Grill some peaches and put a dollop on top.
