Predictions time

Post by i_have_shiny_shoes » Wed Oct 17, 2012 9:07 am

You have until midnight BST on 30 October to predict the following:

Presidential election winner
Electoral college distribution
Senate controlled by/no control
Number of Senate seats per party
HoR controlled by
Number of HoR seats per party
we're discussing it, so it's not secret.

I'm good at this! I think I won the last one. :)

The advantage is to wait as long as possible, so early guesses should get bonus points shoes. But no guts, no glory.

Presidential election winner- Romney
Electoral college distribution- Romney 300, Maobama 238
Senate controlled by/no control- Pubes
Number of Senate seats per party- 51 Pubic, 49 Dumbo/independent
HoR controlled by- Pubes
Number of HoR seats per party- 239 Pubic, 196 Dumbo

Our long national nightmare is almost over!

Wouldn't it be great to be able to fix all of Maobama's fuckups?

The DOW might hit 20,000.

While I would love to see a repeat of 2000 in Obama's favor, I just don't think it's going to happen.

The Kenyan will win by 3% and have 303 electoral votes. Senate remains Dem, the House Republican.

I think there is a good chance that Rmoney wins the popular vote but Obama wins the electoral vote

in that case all the talking heads on Fox News and conservative ratio talk shows would be frothing in their mouths (ok, more than usual) about how american voters have spoken and Obama has no mandate to govern, complete ignoring the rich irony from 12 years ago.....

You are correct.

But to fix all the fuckups you Dumbos caused by not having to suffer a divided government in Mao's first two years, we need an undivided government on the saner side.

Obama President

Senate D majority

House R majority

It will be a close election for Obama, but close like 2004, not like 2000, with the outcome uncertain until the very end but indisputable when it is over.

I just don't think that Romney is going to be able to pull off a win in Ohio. Those people are just to fucking stupid to try and improve their own lot in life. I really hope Romney wins so we can all move forward as a country. Dick Face is not good for America. He just isn't a good President.

Obama will win by the narrowest of margins.

Senate will remain in Dem hands.

House stays solidly Republican.

And for the next two years this country does not pass any major legislation. And that's a good thing.

If Romney won (only giving 40/60 odds on that), I'd be very, very happy with the setup:

- Moderate Republican in the WH

- House controlled by GOP with a healthy contingent of deficit hawks (questionable if they remain so w/ a GOP president)

- Senate controlled by Dems (divided government)

Romney for President
Dems just hang on to Senate
Republicans dominate the House

America continues its 30 year decent into a 2nd world sh*thole. rich get even filthier richer, the legions of poor grow, middle class continues shrinking on the low end, stagnating at the upper end. Social programs cut to the bone. Domestic economy stagnates along with majority of americans' paycheques. Dollar depreciates, Dow goes up initially based on corporate earnings overseas translated into US $. Expect a debt crisis by end of Lord Romney's reign brought on by additional tax cuts for the wealthy, increased tax evasion (if it's OK for Romney - its OK for everyone else), and increased military-industrial complex spending. 1% have their money overseas in tax havens, 99% left holding the bag paying the bills for a bankrupt america.

By the way, if I had to bet, do believe Obama will win. I just don't see the electoral college math adding up in Romney's favor. I'll predict a close Obama win 281-257.

That said, I would not be shocked by any electoral outcome (like I would have been shocked by a McCain win 2008). Slight shifts in any direction could make major changes in the electoral count.

House and Senate are done deals for GOP and Dems respectively without an major movement.

332 ECs for Obama
54 Dems in Senate
Small, net gain for Dems in House but remains Republican majority.
