Did you hire a guide or figure the fishing out on your own?

rider, a bunch of us met up in Nelspruit in Mpumulanga (seven of us), and then travelled from there in two vehicles - one towing a boat. The guy who organized the trip is an old Mozambique hand now based in Nelspruit. He bought a set up on the banks of the Bilene lagoon recently - a kind of ramshackle fishing base camp. He also owns the boat, and was the skipper.

I guess, in a sense he was the guide/leader of the trip.

That's the best kind of fishing trip. Own boat and someone who knows how to fish the area.

Forgive my ignorance but I always assumed Mozambique was a no go area for tourists.

Not at all. Very popular with tourists recently. The war ended back in 1993, though there have been a few ambushes/attacks further north in recent years complements of Renamo elements that have gone rogue.

I've been going there on and off since 1998.

It can be quite tough going though. Bad roads etc.

Are you fluent in Portuguese after Angola? I doubt if English is too helpful on that beach.

Nice!
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Looks like it might be a hard sleep on though.

I prefer my beaches with sand that you love to move between your toes and is like a comfy mattress.

You might be in the arsehole of nowhere, but you sure do have some amazing travel destinations at short distance.

Mozambique is on our list - but it's a long list so I don't know when we'll get there!

Gorgeous pics.

That is a very impressive liquor units to fish ratio.

Well done, sir.
