Cool photos from China. HK is high on my list of next places to go. Maybe after Vietnam.

There's some weird stuff in Chinatown here but I usually only have some soup and dumplings and buy tea when I go.

EMG, tsim sha tsui is a great place to stay if on a budget in HK. Avoid the mansions obviously, but there are lots of hostel/small family hotels in the area.
While you will probably get better value in places like Mong Kok or better views in repulse bay, you cant beat the location of tst and its no where near as expensive as staying in central.
You have the star ferry and tube both within walking distance.
Its a good 3 or 4 day long weekend type of trip.
Make sure you venture out to lamma and lantau for a totally different experience.
You can skip macau though as its now just a chinese vegas (good seafood at reasonable prices though).
I'm going to the back seat of my car, with the woman I love, and I won't be back for ten minutes!

I think I used to go to the same place. Was this place very cheap, by the river along other outdoor restaurants? And there are rooms for rent houses on the other side of the road?

Pretty sure that's the one. There's a large tent on the side of the road near the river that seats about 50. My gf and I sat across the street on the porch of a guesthouse. The owners of the restaurant and guesthouse were one in the same.

Fish & Chips in a converted church in Port Alberni on Vancouver Island-superb cooking but they were stunned to silence when I asked for hot sauce.

Since I needed it for my Clamato juice as well I went across the street and bought a bottle to donate.

Wish I had a photo or video of what happened just before dinnertime on our trek in remote Sulawesi Island (Indonesia). Our "host" chased his frightended chicken around the compound and caught it, then cut off its head with his pen knife, and it was eventually our dinner. Not bad !

More Uzbek cuisine. Meat and mayo rich salads pretty much sums it up. And there's some heavy bread just out of the picture.

Next week I'll try to take some photos of nice, fresh, unstodgy French food. Just looking at that meal above (from a restaurant the name of which translates to 'National Food') is making my stomach feel heavy.
