I did Kape-just a short trip to celebrate my husbands bday
Combined it with Athens
Had a great time, weather was springlike
So nice to not have all the crowds
Visited 7 museums,5 historical sites
Yeah,we're ancient history geeks!
Great time to visit Greece to,heck any euro city, with the dollar going gangbusters

But,worried about Turkey's future as a secular state
Still want to see more of the country, will do it sooner than later
You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else.

judik, that sound lovely! "7 museums, 5 historical sites"... sounds so great.

Yeah, Turkey's future as a secular state... I'm worried about that, too.

Even better than I remembered. Thanks!

2015 and there were so few people in the Hagia Sophia? Were you the first one through the door?

It was 2012 :) I can't remember, but I think I was in Hagia Sophia in the afternoon. There were people there, but not too many.

Very different from when I was there. Last time I was in Istanbul was September 2012, but don't think I saw HS that time. I thought it was still being renovated.

I was in Istanbul (and my pictures are from) April or May 2012. Our paths have almost crossed there. I stayed in a hotel in Sultanahmet right next to the hippodrome and spent most of my time around there. I did go visit Taksim square for food and bars at least one night there and also visited the Asian side.
