I hate them all. I've not been to a single airport that's been anything but a boring as fuck experience. People go on about Singapore but it's as boring as all the others.

The only thing that makes them tolerable is having a drink (if I'm going on holiday).

It depends. I've worked at airports. I was an AOAC at an ATO for a major airline. It was a happier time in my life. Perhaps that's why I'm OK with flying to LGW and calling it a vacation.

Lol. No one will be able to tease those acronyms apart. Even with google. It's impossible.

My local airport is easy as pie to fly out of. It's quite nice because I therefore do international stuff from there and simply transit in the Australian international terminals.

No farting around walking long distances at Auckland Airport for me.

Yeah. I'm going to miss MHT. Everything was a hop skip and a jump AND it was tiny. It was like flying back in 1970. You just saunter up to the ticket counter. No lines no waiting.

Yep! Except for jetstar, I can order my coffee, pick it up and sit down on the plane with it. And it will still be hot.

Love me the teeny airports to start a trip.

Yeah, there's the eternal debate about the "golden era" of air travel.

Fact is, if you're willing to spend the money the entire experience has never been better.

The lounges are more plentiful and access is easier. You can upgrade to a premium class of service if so desired. You will have to pay of course BUT the cost isn't always that much more. You can get the "Big Front Seat" on Spirit and that's all it is. A big front seat but you get plenty of leg room.

I upgraded to the Premium Economy service on my last Delta flight and it was only $39.00 more. It's amazing what six extra inches and a complimentary meal can do for the travel experience.

Tiny airports (like really tiny - Thursday Island, several in PNG, a few in Africa) are fine. But standard airports you're in a noisy, crowded vast space and are either running late and anxious or are early and bored. There doesn't seem to be a sweet spot.

Agree with Bastet that Changi is nothing special. It was once quite good, though.
The pies and sausage rolls are good in Australia - Iolar

sydney airport qantas platinum lounge was pretty good place to kill time with a hangover, they had the regular qantas club lounge closed and diverted everyone to the platinum lounge, no making your own toasties there, they'd bring them to you.

Bar Harbor Maine is probably the best really tiny airport I've ever seen. The wooden rafters are what make it. I worked for Bar Harbor Airlines years ago. I remember the coffee shop being nice. They're an EAS (Essential Air Services) airport. Presque Isle Maine also has that designation. The airline that serves it get's subsidized. http://www.bhbairport.com/

Key West is also cute. I haven't been there in ages though. It might have changed.

You could still do that at AKL domestic for the twin-prop flights, last time I went. Which was four years ago.
No security to speak of.

Plus you can just hand carry your DF bottles onboard, much appreciated by my friends in NPL.

At Chicago Midway airport I had a Southwest Airlines employee grab my dick. He was at the adjacent urinal in the men's room. That's the second time something like that has happened to me in my lifetime.

I don't understand why staff think they can take that liberty with me. Not that I minded but what aura do I give off that says "Go on grab my dick"?

I would imagine he would have been written up had I reported the incident.

For real guys. Has that happened to you ever?
