Agreed, but arguably for super rich tourists who have been almost everywhere else.

I got offered part of that cruise for free.

Only problem was it was on a fishing boat.

Day 5 - bo-ring:
Korsakov
This morning you’ll arrive at your first stop in Russia, the city of Korsakov at the southern tip of Sakhalin Island. Part of Japan from 1905 to 1945, a few buildings from the period survive here and in the nearby capital of the island, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Among those in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is the Sakhalin Regional Museum, with its exterior modeled on a Japanese castle. Other sights to visit on your day in Sakhalin include the wooden Church of St. Nicholas, with its gold onion domes, and the monumental Lenin Square.
Been there, done that.

Korsakov's where our equipment gets unloaded.

Thanks for the photos. I'd go, if I could handle a cruise.

There's a cruise that departs out of Anchorage in late September. It's a repositioning cruise and you can take it as far as Shanghai. It stops in the Aleutians, Kamchatka, Russian Far East, and on down into Japan and Korea. Because it is a repositioning cruise, it costed like $70/day when I last checked.

September?

Maybe I'll look for it in 2019. Who's the owner?

Looks lovely and yes- Crystal is pricey. Great food, all drinks included. Nice cabins, good service. But there is that price.

Don’t see prices but guessing 12-15,000 per person

Silversea has had a similar itinerary that they have been sailing for several years now.

We took that one a few years ago then continued on to Singapore for a total of 35 days. Can't remember the price but it was a bargain.

We just finished a 14 day Civitavecchia to Fort Lauderdale cruise for $700.

That sounds fucking great.

I wouldn’t do the OP Kuril one though - not enough time at the locations, and you can do it cheaper via a few short flights from Japan: a 45 minute hop from Sapporo to Yuzhno-Salahlinsk, then from there you can hop to two Kuril Islands, or Petropavlovsk in Kamchatka (you can also fly there direct from Moscow dirt-cheap btw). One of my friends in Sakhalin (Iraqi-American-Brit woman) has a sea kayak and has spent the past few summers paddling around with otters etc - it’s not the worst life in the world - and she’s also done the Kuril hops.
La ruta nos aportó otro paso natural.
