Suburbs of Paris

Post by BeatRaven » Mon Oct 22, 2018 6:32 pm

Good article in which the writer walks completely around the periphery of Paris:

Have you been to these area's? I went to a couple of super low income flea markets and to the Le Courbusier's apartment:

Apparently, tons of modernism in the outskirts.

I've only been to Montmartre and Versailles.

I have clients in La Defense and my son worked there too.

Some other engineering and oil companies dotted around the periphery.

I'm glad the NYT found it so exciting.

I like La Defense. It's slightly weird.

We'd often stay at a Novotel in Bercy for a night on the way to the Auvergne. The little driver-less train that takes you into the centre from there was exciting back then.

I worked in La Defense for 6 months. It's totally not what anyone would think of when they think of Paris, but it's pretty interesting in its own right.

I think it used to be part of Corbusier, because the building I worked at had an address change around 2010 or so. It used to be in Corbusier (or something very near to that name) and then changed to La Defense. We still got packages addressed to the Corbusier address quite often.

There's supposed to be a good museum out in the banlleue if one is up for a minor adventure among the darker peoples and their milieu:

St. Denis cathedral is great. The rest of it looks like a good travel option once you have visited almost everywhere else in the world.
