Layover at Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport

Post by polardude1 » Tue Aug 07, 2018 2:23 pm

I have a 6 hour layover prior to a flight to Israel. I don't want to chance going on a long bus ride into town . Is it worth buying a pass to one of their lounges?

I assume you're flying Air Canada? I recall it was an ok lounge. The airport itself is pretty awful so any chance you can avoid it for several hours, I would take it.

^agreed.

Should be a Maple Leaf lounge. Let us know what you think as will be flying out of Trudeau in January on Swissair and will use their lounge - the AC Maple Leaf lounge.
Hmmm, this says no walk up entry.

Please be aware lounge passes are only available to those on flex fares and up.
If you bought a cheap fare they don't offer you a chance to buy a pass.
Probably the worst airport in canada, so i hope your fare does allow for a pass.
One upside, its a self serve bar so you can drink/pour as big of drinks as u like.

When I was there a couple of years ago we went to a sports bar called La Cage - Brasserie about ten minutes west. I had a friend pick me up but an uber should be cheap. There was a bus stop across the parking lot, on the map it looks like bus #204 goes to and from the airport and takes 35-40 minutes. There is also a mall and a Costco in the same area.

If it is daylight and the weather if good you could walk the five or six miles to the locks on the west end of the canal then uber or walk back. Over half of the walk is along the river.

Going into into the city is risky given the potential traffic problems

I agree about Montreal but neither of these places are in the city and a long walk before a long flight is healthier than sitting in a lounge. Walk as far as you feel comfortable then head back to the airport. It is a great neighborhood and once you get a little east their are parks the whole way.

That is a shame. Hopefully you will still be able to walk down to the river and back.

Typical. I was raised in Montreal and they are always working on the roads. While I am well aware that organized crime very involved in big $$ road and bridge construction projects in Quebec, do they never get called out for using such inferior road building materials??

Montreal is a never end road construction destination as the unions can easily force the politicians hands in this oh so lefty city.
You could have made that exact same statement 10 years ago PD and it would be true.

Actually, from what I've heard, this summer's construction season in Montreal is busier because they neglected doing road reconstruction the last few years.

You obviously don't visit Montreal much...I'm there 6x a year construction is never ending.

Wow a CBC report that says that construction is worse than normal.
I guess that when its your main/only source of talking points you just take it verbatim.
I'll take my 60 + visits in the past decade or so over your report.
But of course its the CBC so you never question it.
It must truly suck to be so removed from everything, never travelling much of anywhere, yet you know so much.
How special.

One third of municipal infrastructure in Canada is at risk of rapid deterioration, according to the 2016 findings released by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Good lord, all I said was that traffic would be even worse this summer in Montreal which media reports confirm. Lay off the booze, car vandalizer.

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.
