Rage against the airlines

Post by Chip_Oatley » Tue Feb 13, 2018 2:30 am

Grrr, Delta is so sneaky about points. Nearly 17K one way for a short distance, a week out.

It's all designed to trip us up.

Isn't 17K the lowest award for anything?

They used to have mileage tables. How the fuck do you know what your delta skymiles are worth anymore? Every time I try to search for a flight using miles, it melts the system down and tells me to try again later. I'm pretty sure my 200K miles are worth slightly less than Taco's stock turned out to be, but it would be nice if I could just get them to tell me that.

17k one way is actually CHEAP! the cheapest is actually 12.5k , which is 1/2 the cheapest 25k economy domestic r/t.

delta and ua (don't know about aa) have now pegged their awards to the price of the ticket - so to speak. the closer you are to the travel date the more expensive (in miles or in cash) your ticket will be. i think aa also charges a 'close in' fee for booking close to your travel date. motherfuckers, i tell ya.

just wait 'til you see a DL one-way for 200,000 miles in economy. i nearly shat my pants.

Remember, I'm talking one way.

The cheapest I see is 8K--mostly to/from Portland and Seattle. I used 11,500 to get from D.C. to Denver early Feb.

And yes, you are correct--they are tying points now to airfares/competition.

Wow- must look more carefully at points- the lowest I have ever seen is 17,000. Had no idea that you could get flights for that few miles.
