Martinique or Guadeloupe

Post by strife » Tue Dec 26, 2017 6:25 pm

Norwegian Air has stupid-cheap tickets to both islands, and I think I'm going to jump on one. Is there anything to suggest one over the other, particularly with regards to diving? They both sound pretty ideal, being a) French, b) Caribbean, and c) during winter.
I am Stalking you.

Did you do this, Flexi? I went to Guadeloupe. Loved it for the reasons you listed above. I think it's a wee bit cheaper than Martinique.

Guadaloupe is more frenchy, nature-istic and less touristy then the other one.

If you like the ol' Carib style gingerbready houses and more nightlife, then the other one.

Did Martinique on NA a year and a half ago.
if you go in shoulder season it's very reasonable (we went early Dec.)
Very French so the food/wine is good.
I consider it middle of the road price wise (not cheap like Cuba or the DR, but not expensive like Aruba/Caymans/BVI's)
Really pretty island, easy to drive around.
we were on the very first JFK-FDF flight so we got the water cannon send off and welcome plus the Governor of Martinique met us at arrivals and we got many giveaways.
It was fun.
I recommend the place.
I'm going to the back seat of my car, with the woman I love, and I won't be back for ten minutes!
