Just more dullsville England. No better than the dullsville you're in.

When I first got there, I'd do stuff like that and Isle of Scilly.

It costs the same as a real holiday and it's the same ol' same ol.

Can't think of a single reason to go to the Isle of Man unless you're there to talk to David Cameron's accountant.

Yeah, they have some dodgy banks there. Same/same for the Channel Islands, where the City banks.

it's a box-ticking exercise, I'm guessing?
I've seen the Isle of Man from the Lake District. That's as close as I plan to get.

If you ride a bike there’s a fascination. Otherwise it’s rural Englandland, bit like Cumbria, with a couple of weird legal things. I liked it well enough but not drawn to return.

Interesting town so far is Douglas, the accent of the people is hard to pin down, it’s almost Scouse, a little Irish with a weird twang.

I love the British seaside in the winter. Nothing beats that grey damp abandonment. When you're done find a nice pub with a fire going and drink half a dozen whisky-macs.

Nice photos, Lincs. Are you doing another solo trip -- this time on the Island of Man?

An inconsequential song about a bunch of Dubliners going for a drunken weekend in the Isle of Man.

Nevertheless, I love the skilful and seamless way the lyrics are knitted together.
They have their own rhythm which Paddy Reilly works wonderfully.

I wonder if any of those bars are still there?

The singer was Australian, but the song relates to Man:

For USAnian purposes, "Kelly from the Isle of Man" was repurposed to "Kelly from the Emerald isle".

Florrie Forde died on the same day as my maternal grandfather. Their very small obituaries adjoined each other.

I will have to listen to the Paddy O'Reilly song with my hearing aids in.

Cool photos, Lincoln. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
