I think I have been at it longer than most here on the stew though- so that accounts for a lot of it. I also began hopping the Atlantic when I was 5 weeks old. Before jets were common. Although yes- they did have planes to fly in. But only if you got all dressed up and acted like gentlement and ladies. I believe that hats and gloves were still expected. Well- I didn't have to but I was a special case.

BOOM! It's country number 92 for this amazing traveler as he arrives with his large testicles in Malta.
First impressions are of some pretty a amazing buildings with ornate balconies and subtle differences in the way they celebrate Christmas like every roundabout has a wooden nativity scene proudly displayed and the insides of churches are decked out with tinsel and tacky ,chinsey decorations.
So far,so good.

But how do they celebrate Holiday?

Madeira isn't a country! Nice place though all the same (I've been a few times before Ronaldo tainted it with his wankerness).

They have a set of rules. They are somewhat outrageous. It's a while since I looked, but I think any separate island or exclave counts if it's more than 50 miles (or something) away.

I think they want to have as many "countries" as possible or else they would have many members who have been to all of them and the club wouldn't be as interesting.

There's a section on the TCC which lists "retired" countries I.e countries that no longer exist, they don't count on the list of 325 countries. So to answer your question Electrolyte Checkhoslovakia (spelling?) Wouldn't count t but the other 2 would.

Sadly no, but the place in the Soviet Union that you went to would count.

I think since posting I am now at 102. PNG, the Solomons, and a number of Central European countries added to my list. But out of 396 or whatever they claim these days it is still barely 25%.

Just counted through that list - I've visited 88 of these territories (most recently Siberia).
Where are the closest places to your hometown that you haven't visited?
For me, it would be: Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Faroe Islands, San Marino, Iceland, Kaliningrad.

Thats an interesting question...for me it'd be Isle of Man (had a flight booked to go there in jan but i had the flu so didn't go)...Guernsey and Jersey would also be my closest places.

Iceland, if transit Reykjavik airport doesn't count. Faroes. Isle of Man. Luxembourg. Andorra. Lichtenstein. Slovakia.
Took a bus though the Balkans when Yugoslavia was the dominant country but the only ones I've spent time in were Romania , Albania and Greece.
I had a look at the Travelers Club link. It seems bizarre that they count Alaska and PEI but not Newfoundland or Nova Scotia. Siberia but not Sakhalin. And so on.

The voters' names are removed through the state's so-called "Supplemental Process." Under the process, if a voter does not vote during a two-year period
On that list? Prince Edward island

Malta is so 1982.
The big roundabouts are great though. You just take the shortest route through them in any direction. It's like playing dodgems with real cars.

Excel tells me 68 from Abu Dhabi to Wales once I've deleted all the ones on the TC list I haven't been to.
Some tourist on a island cruise, or turnip from Lincolnshire, could probably beat that.

With their bizarro list I hit 70. (Didn't include ones where I didn't set foot outside the airport or off the train.)

I'm up to 38. Not that impressive, but I've also been to 33 of China's 34 provinces, claimed provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and SARs, and seven of Australia's eight states and territories, so I think that should count for a lot.

I might have lost track a bit, since there's no nice check box system for counting. But using their very loose definition of countries and 'visiting' I think I got 55. Which is significantly more than I consider myself to have visited.

It's BS.
You need a stamp in your passport and dirt on your shoes (e.g. passing through on the train isn't enough even though you get a passport stamp).
