It's not a country!!!
But anyway, never been to Northern Ireland. Quite fancy a trip there at some point - some good hills and coastline to hike around, an the Donegal coast is round the corner.

I got back from a new country yesterday - spent a week around Chiang Mai in Thailand. HOWEVER, I did not buy any clown pants, and didn't see one banana pancake on the menus. So have I really visited? Not sure it counts.

PITA to count them from their lists, but I first converted one of the lists to a long one, then pasted that into the first column of an Excel spreadsheet.

Central America and the Caribbean are where tourists can quickly inflate their country count. Make sure you get to 100 in a real country.

I also missed out on Luxembourg. All those trips to Frankfurt and I never managed to take a weekend off to get another tally. Denmark too, that would have enabled me to be a Scandinavia expert as well.

Martinique is part of France. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland don't count. I put you on approx 65 actual countries, with 20 fake ego-boosts.

I didn't know until recently. I'd steadfastly refused to count, because I'd come across so many country counters who were smug and obnoxious. I didn't want to have anything in common with them. But TA has a map of the world thing to click on where you've been, and I filled it on for something to do. Then, of course, TA counted them. So now I know. And it makes no difference apart from joke competing with ben.

I'll get to one hundred (and they'll be proper countries or at least nations that attempt to qualify for the World Cup or have their own post stamps) before I die.

I'd also planned to bed more women than years I lived, but that has fallen off pace since 2011. I suppose the long way around to SEA might skewer the both.

Funny list! I counted 86 that I've visited, plus another 5 or 6 when I didn't leave the airport. I haven't been to a "new" actual country for nearly two years, with no firm plans to do so. If I have a choice of going to St Petersburg and Lake Baikal or Lithuania and Latvia, then I'll probably choose the former options.

www.travelerscenturyclub.org

I don't count countries where ive only been in the airport ...that sucks and you havent really been there.

On the TCC website theres a tab that says "Countries and territories"..that gives you the list alphabetically but you can click a link in the intro to see a list by region which is much easier.

Its just a bit of fun and the only objectioners are those that tend to have been to few places!

I counted through the list yesterday (bored at work) and came to forty-five.

Which seems strange as on the first page of this thread I said thirty-six, and I've been to a dozen new (actual) countries since then.
