November's Greatest "Non-Event" --- Tiger vs. Phil in Las Vegas

Post by steveogolf » Thu Oct 11, 2018 6:32 pm

Information (News) today indicates:
No tickets will be made available to the general public to watch the event on-site at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas. Only special invited guests and VIP's will be on site. How Eliteist !.
The event will be during the day with no play under the lights (Sunset is at about 4:30 P.M. in Las Vegas at the end of November).
Winner will win $ 9 Million.
Tiger and Phil combined went 0-6 in the Ryder Cup (Tiger was 0-4 and Phil was 0-2).
No prices have yet been set for the Pay-For-View charge (There is no free broadcast TV and no free Cable TV for this).

The current odds for this "non-event" match:
Tiger to win (+ 220) --- Bet $ 220 and win $ 100.
Phil to win (- 180) --- Bet $ 180 and win $ 100.

Truly a "Non-Event".

Ha, you were hyping it a few weeks ago. Maybe Rory needs to be invited to take their money.

They need to do something: Perhaps start the non-event early, and have Rory McIlroy play the winner into "Prime Time."

One commentator has labelled this as "The Lamest Sports Event Ever Staged." I wouldn't disagree. Can you think of any worse?

Stevo, you got your odds mixed up.

+220 means bet $100, win $220
-180 means bet 180, win $100

Today it was announced that:
(1). The Non-Event Match at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas will take place on Friday, November 23, 2018 starting at 3 p.m. Eastern U.S. Time.
(2). The Pay-Per-View price will be $ 19.99 --- and will probably only be subscribed to by fancy country clubs for the benefit of their members and the mega rich.

I don't expect any sports bars or pubs to carry it for the benefit of patrons.

This non-event starts in 5 minutes (Friday at Noon local time in Las Vegas). A 48 year old vs. a 42 year old. Too old guys well past their prime and not top tier players any more.
I won't be watching it, but am being bombarded with media hype on-line by those who follow me.

It for me raises about the same amount of interest as the play off for 3rd in the WC, about zero.

Phil wins the $ 9 Million as the match goes extra holes in the dark.
But nobody really cares except for Phil and Tiger.
The End of this non-event crap.
