I'm ok with the Nike ads, but I've never liked their footwear. Asics are the best.
I agree. Asics are very nifty.

Nike's stock is up 20% this year. I have a feeling they'll be okay.

Athletic apparel is kind of goofy. I don't buy anything with a logo. Paying money to advertise for a company never made any sense to me.
Also, paying any attention to an endorsement that you know has been paid for never made any sense to me.

I was researching running shoes months ago, and I was surprised at how Nike just didn't really feature among the top ranked ones. There were NBs, Brooks, Mizunos, Asics, Adidas, etc but hardly any Nikes.

I settled on Mizuno Wave Rider 19. They offer great support.

I was on a running forum for a while and when people would talk about Nike running shoes there were always a few "oh.. Nike? Is this the 90's again?" type responses.

Seems they haven't ranked much among hardcore runners in quite a while.

I think with Nike, it's mostly just marketing and branding nowadays (but I accept they may make great footwear/clothing apparel for other sports).

Yeah I was surprised to hear it about the running shoes. But runners were much more interested in Hokas, Asics, Brooks etc. as you said.

Recently I was shopping for some running shorts and tops and both Nike and Adidas were like $20-$40 for stuff other brands had at a third of the price.

yeah....it seems more like a “lifestyle brand”. Their technical gear (eg quick dry shirts) is fine if you find it at a steep discount. I can’t imagine paying full price for any of it.

Tried a pair of Nike Frees on a mate's recommendation. I think I must have pissed my mate off as they were terrible shoes (for me at least) to go running in - once the Achilles recovered I went straight out and bought some Asics instead and never looked back.

I was quietly relieved when someone stole the Nikes from the gym one night.......

Yep. I find certain brands' sporting clothes grossly overpriced, and always wait until I see them discounted before I buy them.

You apparently find facts and information irrelevant as well. Tell me some more about all the black people who are boycotting nike over this protest you big dumb cunt. Nah, never mind. It's a bit like conversing with a fence post. Why bother? Why don't you just get back to picking up something heavy. And then putting it back down again, eventually.

It's all a SWAG until the quarterly earnings are posted.

The people buying the stock now are basing their optimism on a story that "online sales" increased 30%. Which could also mean that they sold 10 pairs of shoes on line instead of seven.

I saw the story and thought, who the fuck buys shoes on line?

I have had too many pairs of running shoes from 'recommendation' and 'experiments' lying around after a few weeks of injury inducing use, to ever dare to try something I have no experiences with, so I stick with Asics Kayano.

But they look bloody ugly, even for the aesthetic standard of running shoes, which is obviously very low. My recent pair of running shoes got the remark from my wife. 'I hardly ever come across shoes that look so cheap.' I wouldn't say €180 is cheap.

I often find Nike shoes better looking, but they don't fit my deformed feet.

Oh I buy running and hiking and work shoes online.

True. But North America is a huge part of it.

And the 30% increase in online sales reported the day after the Colon show debuted were a record of sales that had nothing to do with the Colon show effect.

Yes it is, but LS in an earlier post claimed Nike made a bad business decision claiming the company lost nearly $4,000,000,000 of value, after the campaign started, based on the stock price dropping nearly 3 points, so I decided to keep a running tab to see if the stock price was going to keep going down or rebound. It rebounded and is now is at an all time high.

And lost soul was correct, as per usual. Pissing off customers is not conducive to increasing profits.

The stock closed at $72.41 yesterday, down from $86.04 a month ago.
