Alisson to Liverpool for £66m?

Post by brodie_bruce » Wed Jul 18, 2018 11:09 am

Liverpool really aren't f*cking around in the transfer market these days......Van Dijk, Naby Keita, Fabinho and now Alisson is looking likely (if you believe what you read).

It's almost as if Jurgen's strategy of waiting for the right player works (although you could equally argue it's about f*cking time the keeper situation was addressed).

Yeah, FINALLY doing something about the defence...! Whether it'll work or not is another matter, but things have improved with the introduction of Virgil. And don't forget, Lovren is one of the best defenders in the world.....

Lots of money but goalkeepers have been undervalued for a long time compared to, say, strikers - I think it was https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/174 ... mbers-game which claimed it's far easier to put a value on a goal cored rather than a save. Although having said that United would have been fairly fucked without de Gea.

That and it's a bit of a keeper's market right now as "There are around a dozen of Europe’s top goalkeepers on the merry-go-round. By the time it comes to a stop, it is not unfeasible that both Champions League finalists, the Europa League winners, the FA Cup winners and the champions of France and Italy will all be starting the season with a new No.1." which is only going to push prices up.......

Funny, it was only a few days ago there was talk of Danny Ward being the new number 1.

I suspect that means Karius will play the domestic cup games and apparently one of the kids has potential so third choice. Mignolet has to be gone though?

I've never understood the market regarding goalkeepers.

Real Madrid are chasing Courtois for £35m and Hazard for £112m

That's about a 3:1 ratio.

It's arguable who will add more to the team.

Hasn't De Gea been United's player of the season for about the last 5 years?
