Gareth Southgate

Post by Meatfree » Thu Jun 07, 2018 6:51 pm

I have no doubt we'll do nothing but disappoint this World Cup, but all these people slagging off Southgate just because they think he's a boring character do my swede in. Shearer was pure beige slacks, but he was no stranger to a goal or two. Stick to what happens on the pitch, and more importantly, the results that come from it.

Agreed...its a classic example of the media having nothing to write about until the WC starts.

I think he's perfectly articulate, which is a problem for some of course.

And I don't think he's a lightweight, I think he really wants to do well.

Roy, on the other hand, I'm convinced he went in to a tournament thinking a quarter final place would be a good result.

It is of course, but I don't want my manager thinking that.

I want him to be sick as a dog when they lose, like Mourinho

The only thing I can't forgive Southgate for is the Pizza Hut advert. But maybe that wasn't actually him, so that makes it worse for Stuart Pearce.

Southgate has already said he thinks he can handle the pressure of being the manager based on experiencing all the post penalty bile from his past.

I can't find it, where is it? If its something you set up once and then see how results come in, great. I totally crap at keeping things going, like fantasy football.

Ha, no. Can't remember why now, but I couldn't use my old Gyro handle from LP on here, and I'd just moved jobs to the factory that makes all the Linda McCartney stuff, so....

That explains everything. I vaguely remember the name Gyro - wasn't she a low class cunt?

Southgate is the perfect manager-moderately talented but with the seeming ability to coax that bit extra from moderately talented players.
