Karius

Post by Argonheart_Po » Sun May 27, 2018 1:20 am

That kind of night can genuinely ruin a person. Everyone he knows, every coach, every fellow player from every kids team, every person who ever put out the cones on a Tuesday night, everyone he has ever met was watching. Everything he has ever done led to last night. And he blew it. He will never be back on that stage, no matter what he does, this is how people will remember him. It will haunt him for a lifetime.

And it turns out that you will walk alone. None of the other Liverpool players came to him, they ignored him. Only Real players helped him.

This popped up when I was reading espn.com. Unbelievable to have two massive gaffes like that on such a big stage. Will there be fallout besides his ego?

The club is likely to buy another goalkeeper. His career will probably nosedive. Once a goalkeeper is seen as untrustworthy, it’s an opinion that is almost set in stone. Hopefully the club have some psych support for him. His colleagues certainly didn’t.

This is a terrific book:

On Robert Enke, a German goalkeeper who committed suicide. Even if you don’t enjoy football, it’s excellent.

This is also a terrific book, though nothing to do with soccer - and a shame the image is missing the dust jacket:

Total trade bait. Except his value just dropped, so the Reds lose twice.

It’s a good report.

Liverpool haven't had a decent goalkeeper for about a decade.

And you won't win anything with a naff goalkeeper

Very true, missie.

Apparently he and his family have now been receiving death threats which I guess is par for the course in Scouse-land. Pathetic low class l00sers.

"And you won't win anything with a naff goalkeeper"

That's the problem I keep coming back to. It's all lovely to be impressed by our attack force and the skill and energy going forward, but aside from the odd one off match (which Saturday night could have been. I mean, Dudek was no maestro, but his last game for us was winning the CL final), I can't see any team that have had decent success - except Leicester when they won the league - when they had anything other than a world class keeper.

Hospital in USA confirms Karius was concussed in final, following earlier collision.

They said he might have been concussed. He might have been. He might not. He will never know. Nor will we.

It’s just Liverpool throwing corn to the chickens to protect their investment.

Of course, you're the medical expert.

Did you read the statement, or are you suffering cognitive impairment?

As for the conspiracy theories, maybe they did pay some quack in the US to pad out a bullshit report.

Seems strange that they would do potentially harm their worldwide reputation for a goalkeeper they paid £4.7m for, and would be worth what now in any case?

John W Henry doesn't strike me as that sort of owner.

It's not the first time a seemingly ridiculous 'statement' has come out to to try and excuse such a thing. Was it through the club, or just Karius himself? Either way, you're better off just saying nowt.

In terms of club reputation, this sort of thing won't harm it one jot. I remember when Whisky Nose claimed they lost (against Southampton, was it?) because of the colour of the kit. Didn't do him any harm.

Liverpool sent him for a scan to a hospital in Massachusetts, as he was apparently heading to the US on holiday.

All further media enquiries to be directed to the Liverpool press office.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, would be my interpretation.

Plus, surely Liverpool would be liable to accusations of negligence at not detecting it during the match itself.

I’m not saying it the wrong this for Liverpool to do. It’s good business.

It will be the difference between 8 and 12 million quid when they sell him.

I still feel sorry for him.

Deadlegs, are you telling me a club, a player, or a manager has never come out and said something that sounded like a shit excuse before? I mentioned Ferguson and his bollocks earlier.

Besides, have LFC actually released this as a statement? I don't know; all I saw was the doctors opinion and the fact it had been sanctioned by Karius. Either way, it sounds weak and is as laughable and irrelevant as Toure's birthday cake.

Please feel free to continue arguing for the sake of it though if you wish.
