Screw that, Cole had some personality and style. The guys they have now doing play by play at Sportsnet are bland.

Remember with the 5.2 billion dollar contract that Rogers signed with the NHL in 2013, Rogers media controls all personnel and editorial decisions involved with the NHL, nationally in Canada.

Speaking of play-by-play people, where's Bob Cole, I can't say that I've heard him recently. Is he not working the playoffs?
I saw a story about him, saying he wasn't given a playoff assignment without explanation. Seems a shabbby way to treat him after all these years.
Same thing happened to Tom Larscheid it's a shitty business run by shitty people-that being said last I heard Bob Cole he sounded Really Bad-way behind the play like he couldn't see the game at all.
sodelicious wrote:

The CBC would've been too scared of the backlash not to give him an assignment. Kudos to Rogers for making that decision. Now only if they would do that to that pompous obnoxious windbag Don Cherry.
See my remarks re:shitty business.

Bob Cole has been behind the play for about the last 3 years.

2ND Round

Nashville over Winnipeg
San Jose over Las Vegas
Pittsburgh over Washington (I hope I'm wrong on that one, but all points direct to a Penguins win)
Boston over Tampa Bay

Well that's 14 years and only two playoff appearances - both of them losses - for the Leafs. I wish Harold Ballard was around for this. I bet Auston Matthews would have been traded for two 3rd liners and an enforcer by now.

I don't think so. He has his problems but far as I know he doesn't take trade advice from a barber and cover up sex crimes by Sens' staff.

Just pointing out there is no comparing Ballard with anybody. He broke the mold.

On team performance there is no comparison. Haven't missed the playoffs in consecutive years for over 20 years, this year was only the 4th time Ottawa missed the playoffs and I'm guessing losing their top 2 defensemen (Methot and Karlsson injury recovery) for the season and their top defensive forward to trade had a lot to do with it. They'll regroup and be back next year. Plus two Conference appearances and a finals appearance something the Leafs have not enjoyed the last 14 years.

And you know it's true. There is no telling what that old angry fool would have done with Matthews. LOL.

Ottawa is a bizarre situation certainly and the final chapter has yet to be written.

Is it somewhat analogous to the old Bill Wirtz Chicago team?

That was some serious fucking up/bad blood on many levels.

I could see it descending into Bill Wirtz levels. Especially after some of the bizarre public statements made during the outdoor game and his wishy washy public statements around the Lebreton Flats project to bring the team downtown.

You are correct I mistakenly counted this year as the 4th. Still. 5 out of 21 seasons is pretty good considering I don't disagree that Melnyk is a poor owner who meddles way too much in the day to day operations of the team.

Well, yeah, that's exactly what I did intentionally. I lowered the bar. The team has a shitty owner and despite that has done better than you'd expect.

Buffalo should be a much better team in the near future after securing the 1st overall pick and they already have a decent foundation to start.

San Jose isn't the team they once were but tonight anyway are playing more like the old team.

Hey, I said that I hope the Caps beat the Pens, that hasn't changed. I'm very glad that the Caps will definitely not lose the series if they lose game 6. However, I'll believe that they can beat the Pens when I see it.
