The golden knights were given generous terms in the expansion draft but that said, no one thought they would even make the playoffs nevermind the final. There was some serious errors in judgement like karlsson and marchessault. Fleury wasn’t as serious because the pens still had Matt Murray.
Another serious error in judgement was Methot and the Knights flipped him. If you can take the partner for the best defenseman in the world and have no intention of keeping him you as a GM better make the playoffs. These players are not misfits.

No, nate Schmidt comes to mind too. How the caps let him go is a mystery and keep brooks orpik! Crazy.

If they get the same terms you have my prediction. At least make the playoffs and a deep run is no surprise.

Unless, of course they hire Mike Milbury or Brian Burke.

Meh. It's the 3-hour finale of Survivor for me.
What about game 5 between the Cavs and the Celts?
It'll be over before survivor starts.

Shamoo was so certain this was going to happen that I'm sure he laid some serious scratch down at 500 to 1 when the season started. How much do you have on the cup, Shamoo?

I heard of people who bet on Vegas as a joke in October, now selling their bets for 30K and up. There are still people who don't think they can win the cup.

We can call the choices made by GMs mistakes but the draft is set up where GMs are put at risk with their decisions. There will be plenty of GMs with hard choices when it's Seattle's turn.

It'll be an anticlimax they always are-Ovechkin is trying but it's painfully apparent that he's not 100% and maybe never will be again.

Vasilevski is the key he started to look quite casual in the second period....
Well you were correct when you said that Game 7 would be an anticlimax, but wrong about Ovi not being 100%.

I haven't found the playoffs to be particularly interesting and the matchup for the final doesn't excite me but I think the type of teams should make for a 6-7 game series and the games will be entertaining. The goalies will have to be sharpe.

The Capitals really turned their game up a couple of notches and Tampa couldn't respond. Good on Washington, they probably won't ever face an out of gas two time champ Penguins team again so gotta make the most of this opportunity.

I'm thinking much like the Jets, the Caps will wilt under the puck pressure of the Golden Knights with not much left in the tank. VGK in 6.

But having predicted that, I'll probably be dead wrong.

Fucking sonofabitch Ovetchkin I went for a leak just before the game started and he scores the only goal that mattered!

That set the tone and Tampa just didn't have it-the play by play were crawling up Holtby's ass with compliments I thought he was good but not that good hell Tampa could hardly muster any shots all.

Washington over LV this time.

Caps filled out their lines with a ton of youth. They might wilt under pressure, but they've plenty in the tank physically. There's something to be said for the fearless, leave it all on the ice play they managed more this year than in the recent past.

Caps in six, maybe seven.

I just watched my first NHL action in 14 years thanks to the Golden Knights, and their 250 to 1 hopes.

Yes, it was 14 years ago that the millionaire fucktards went on strike against the billionaire fucksticks, leaving me no option but to find other pursuits.

I turned it on only to find Pat fucking Sajak doing the Game 3 pregame announcing for Washington. Fuck me.

Anyway, Fleury is a fantastic goalie.

BTW, the casinos are starting to sweat their 250 to 1 sucker bet they laid last fall.

Go Las Vegas! That is all.

Holtby seems to be better than fantastic.

2-0, Kuznetsov returns to the ice, scores a goal and provides an assist on Ovechkin's goal.

Could be the Knights are gassed.

None of them destroyed an entire season. But I have never come back to view baseball the way I did before the 94 strike. Some years I only watched WS games. It wasn't until Seattle had their record season in 2001 that I watched regular season games again. And that was because my boss had the only dish around, and he was from the Seattle area, so it was the only thing on after work.

would be fun if Vegas wins. Vegas Style. I´ve really loved watching the new team from day one.

*This from someone who thought it CRAZINESSAF to have a ishockey team in VEGAS!* and I hated their weird uniforms....but then it all came together, and I love their uniforms now, the team, everything.

It´s been amazing, craziness with all the goalie changes, and I´ve thought really all have done well! Can u imagine, starting for an NHL team randomly one night as a total fluke, with barely or no warm up, in VEGAS etc...you don´t even have a wiki page, then by the end of one period suddenly half the world knows you and your wiki is up...

VEGAS is amazing. And has really brought some fun back into the game!

You want the Caps to win, Eric. You’re just playing contrarian. Or you’re cruel.

Ovi deserves it. Anyone who actually follows hockey should want the Caps to win this. It’s 44 years of getting fucked over in the worst way possible.

It’s hockey’s version of the Cubs.

Vegas has zero identity. If you’re not from Vegas or Pittsburgh, you’re pulling for a novelty. Go watch the Kardashians.

I'm cheering for the Caps, I put money on them to win the East and to win the Cup at the beginning of the playoffs. I also really want Ovi to win one, I think he gets a raw deal from the Canadian media and the oh so serious hockey guys.

Yeah, a bit contrarian. I’ve heard that sentiment though and they’re not wrong. That said, i think league wouldn’t want this season to be a monument to disasterous expansion draft decisions.
Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair.
