Here is a recapitulation of Foles' stats. Note that his 119.2 rating in 2013 is the third best season QB rating in NFL history.
http://www.nfl.com/player/nickfoles/2532842/careerstats

Here is the all-time QB rating list by season. Foles is third behind Aaron Rodgers in 2011 and Peyton Manning in 2004. Not too shabby, ploadrude.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_rating_single_season.htm

Here is the all-time QB rating list by career. Foles' 88.1 rating would be 18th in history. But he was running scared for two of those years, behind crappy O-lines.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_rating_career.htm

BTW, Section8's pick of Wilson wins the 5-year contest over Crazy Eyes, RG3 and Foles.

I noticed Kaepernick has a higher career rating.

Foles didn't look great with the Chefs last year.

Old folks like my parents keep the television on pretty much all waking hours. They'll put the baseball or the football game on as background noise without really actively watching it. We used to have a joke, "Mom, who's winning the game?" Mom: "I don't know, Baba!"

My guess is a lot of the decline in sports watching has to do with this generation of often inactive watchers dying out.

Don't buy stock in the Lifetime Channel.

Wentz>Foles, but Foles performed admirably for the Chiefs.

He was not immune to the walking talking QB Kryptonite that is known as Jeff Fisher.

Funny, just as I posted above, Seattle strip sacks Jared Goff, the Rams recover. The next play the Rams hand it off to Todd Gurley and he promptly runs 57 yards for a TD.

On another note, the NFL threw the Steelers win to the Pats. The dude caught the ball and the ball crossed the plane. End of, dipshits. Nothing matters after that. Dipshits.

Bullshit. His knee was down and NE hadn't touched him. So the ball was caught, then it crossed the plane. TD. Then it was bobbled, then he was touched.

But that's the same if the guy catches it in the endzone and then goes to the ground. They call that all the time.

It's a stupid rule, but they're pretty consistent in calling it.

Also, this pass play was interrupted by a significant thing called the goal line.

The ball crossed the goal line. Nothing else matters after that, not even the NFL's fucked up catch rules.

That's a totally different scenario.

In today's case, the catch was made once the knee touched the ground with the ball under control. However, the play didn't end until he was touched by the defense. And thy didn't touch him until after he broke the plane with the ball. End of. TD.

In my vid Johnson's knee was down too before the ball touched the ground. It only came loose at the end, like today's call.

Personal foul. 15 yards from the spot of the foul. First down.
Pass interference. First down from the spot of the foul.

I lament the old days of real football when linebackers with missing teeth knocked your running back's teeth out (if given a shot) and your free safety amputated his fingertip to play in the playoffs

Seems like the rules have overtaken the game.

In today's game, the knee being down turned the play from a passing play to a running play.

In running plays all you have to do is cross the plane with the rock. You can do anything you want with it, including fumble it, after that. And nothing else matters. It's a TD.

Can't agree with that -- according to the rule as it stands. It was still all one motion/process, as they say.

In fact, I think the Calvin Johnson play would be an even better example of someone having complete control UNTIL he hit the ground.

Again, I don't like this rule any more than you do, but I do think it was applied yesterday the way it's been applied in many other cases.

This is the explanation from the ref.

And this from Mike Pereira, Fox's "ref in the booth."

@MikePereira
Look, here is the rule. If you’re going to the ground you have to hold onto the ball when the ball hits the ground…Going to the ground trumps lunging/reaching to try and get extra yards or score a TD. You do that at your own risk. It’s incomplete…just ask Dez

It was actually originally called The Calvin Johnson Rule

It's happened repeatedly since then.

Thanks, Moe, but I think this is more of a Joique Bell scenario, at least after James caught the ball with the knee down, and then 'ran' it across the sacred, and inconsistent, plane.

The least the clowns in the NFL could do is make the sacred plane consistent with both types of running plays.

Parry said that the rule applied even though Johnson broke the plane.

"The ball moved without control. If he would have maintained control of the football throughout the entire process, it’s a touchdown. But when the ball hit in the end zone, the ball moved. He did not have complete control of the football, which is why it's incomplete.”

Parry also said that Joique Bell's second-quarter rushing touchdown, in which the ball popped loose after he broke the plane, was a different story.

"The ball had broken the plane under the control of the player and then the ball popped loose," he said of the play that was originally ruled a fumble. That’s why that’s reversed to a touchdown. The ruling on the field was a fumble-change of possession. Automatically reviewed. Those plays are initiated automatically by the replay assistant.”

Oh, I also bet $25/team on the over/under for total wins at the beginning of the season for a total of $775 (my online sportsbook didn't offer a line on Indianapolis due to uncertainty over Andrew Luck). I went 17 - 11 - 3, winning $55.75.

It was on the defense more than the offense. Had they wanted to go far right away they would have drafted Reuben Foster instead of Mahomes.
