NFL Talk 2017

Post by Annotated » Fri Aug 11, 2017 2:03 am

Pre-season games starting up.

If you haven't heard, Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill went down for the season with an injury. So they've picked up retired Jay Cutler.

Cutler knows Dolphins' head coach Adam Gase because he was his QB coach in Chicago and Denver, so he'll be able to pretty much step right into the system.

How ironic that shit on, pissed on, retired Jay Cutler will now finally become the star he was always supposed to be and win a Super Bowl!

Matt Moore is a serviceable backup for 1-3 games. He's not starter material.

The Lions did nothing to address their pathetic pass rush (31st in sacks last year) and they just lost their sack leader from last year playing him on the 2nd series in the first preseason game. It's gonna be another great year for the Lions. The Fins have roughly similar chances of winning a playoff game, given they're starting Jay Fucking Cuntler.

Super excited for middling QB play from Kirk Cousins, never ending discussions about contract talks, and "hot takes" whether he's an elite talent over the next few months.

I love that Washington keeps kicking that can down the road and paying greater and greater sums guaranteed each time. When the Bears dropped $18.5 guaranteed and $15 million a year on the likes of Mike fucking Glennon - and then promptly drafted another QB #1 overall, Snyder's testicles must have absolutely evaporated. I can't stand that midget prick.

A backup QB is getting $15 mil a year? The QB position is just getting more ridiculously expensive by the minute. Mediocre as he is, there are a ton of teams out there who'd kill to have him and the bidding will reflect that. After dropping all that loot, he's just gonna walk. There are some absolute garbage QBs in a lot of starting line ups this year. A decent QB is hard to find, and unless you draft him, he's going to cost you a boatload of money.

Cousins is an above average starting QB. They could have locked KC into a reasonable contract years ago.

Instead he's taking them to the bank this year, and is gonna walk at the end of the season and get a mega contract.

Leave it to Snyder & Co. to be the first NFL team to get bent over a barrel by a player in a league where owners have all the leverage.

I've got a bad feeling that the Lions will emulate this move in their effort to never win more than one playoff game in my lifetime. Hopefully Bob Quinn has enough of the 'Patriot Way' of doing things left in him that they'll avoid this.

Stafford is going to easily get $25 + a season with a huge guarantee, if they can sign him. Whoever has to sign the next big QB contract is going to make what these guys are getting paid look like paltry sums.

Cutler had 2 tall quality receivers who made him look good at the time, Jefferies and Marshall. Both are 6-4 and easy targets in the end zone

It's the fucking preseason. The year the Lions went 4-0 during the preseason, they finished the regular season with a historic 0-16 record. Aside from injuries, what happens during the preseason doesn't matter unless you're one of the guys at the end of the roster trying to make the team.

Fair enough for both sides. As I said to Croponthehill earlier in this thread "When the Bears dropped $18.5 guaranteed and $15 million a year on the likes of Mike fucking Glennon - and then promptly drafted another QB #1 overall, Snyder's testicles must have absolutely evaporated."

The market has changed. Fuck, since I posted that, it looks like he's going to have a hard time holding off Mitch to start the season. The retarded Bears just dropped $19 million on a guy who is going to be holding a clip board in short order.

In a year or so, Stafford will probably be around the 7th or 8th highest paid QB in the league; and rightfully so. The longer the wait, the bigger the price tag gets. Every QB in the league that was approaching free agency had a big fucking smile on their face this morning.

GB is going to make that contract look like a pittance in short order.

I'm glad that Stafford didn't Kirk Cousins them. That motherfucker (Go Green!) changed all the rules, thanks to that midget prick Snyder. The cap is going up, up, up. The QBs are the ones who'll feast on the increase.

Stafford is 0-3 in the playoffs. He's 5-46 against teams with a winning record. I don't think he even won a bowl game in college. And we're fucking lucky to sign the prick to that ginormous contract. Can you believe that shit?

Win one playoff game in 60+ years and see how desperate ownership gets. He could easily have gotten another five or ten million if he waited for the franchise tag a couple times like Cousins did, and he might have ended up on a team that hasn't sucked historically.

Frankly, he's not very smart. Tom Condon must be kicking himself for letting that fucker sign that deal.

Alex Smith is underrated. He plays in the system and doesn't turn it over., and the Chiefs records shows it. His wide receivers are bottom five in the league. If not for a stupid holding call on a two point conversion, the Chiefs might have beat the Steelers in the playoffs. You also have to wonder why Tyreek Hill only got seven offensive touches.

I like the old idea of letting QBs sit and learn their rookie year, and that should be what happens with Mahomes.

Dude is a midget who came out of an even smaller school. It's a wonder that a guy who is only 5' 8" is on a starting roster in the NFL. Especially a midget who likes to beat up and choke out pregnant women. I thought that sort of thing was starting to go out of fashion in the NFL these days.

Career stats for Tyreek Hill - 61 catches for 593 yards (9.7 avg) with 6 TDs. 1 Pregnant girlfriend's ass thoroughly kicked.

Those are some pretty pedestrian numbers for your #1 WR there. I wouldn't start planning his HoF party just yet. Stat wise, he doesn't match up with either of the Lions starting WRs. If you're in a fantasy football league, you might want to take this into consideration when you're making your picks.

Baba wrote:The last time the Lions and the Chiefs played, how did that go?

I wouldn't have thought that beating one of the historically worst franchises in all of football in a regular season game two years ago would be a very memorable moment for a Chef's fan. I guess I was mistaken. Chefs 45, Lions 10. Of course, the last time they played the Lions before that, the Chef's lost 45 - 3.
