I didn't mind F4J.

But, when someone sets up a fun site for the World Cup and the first thing you see on the forum is several OPs made by said fuckwit spreading rumours, you have to say to yourself - what a nobhead!

By the way, Duckie.

Ask him if he has been watching the recent documentary on Stephen Lawrence.

What's interesting is the intention was never to keep real people from accessing the site, I was just hoping that if the forums aren't visible to spambots we might get fewer registration attempts from them. Was just a bit of an experiment and at some point I was going to make everything visible again and hopefully have some spam solution so that we can turn on emails and registrations again.

Seems like there is real desire to keep the forums visible only to registered users.

and yet other sites seems to manage with the same type of forum. What makes this site exceptional?
The software, I assume. Possibly the number of moderators. I don't know if you are referring to phpbb sites in particular, but the default anti spam measures in phpbb is terrible, when we turned on registrations there were immediately dozens of posts from spambots awaiting approval. That might be ok if we always had a dozen moderators online all the time who could handle that load. There are some paid anti spam plugins that may solve the problem as well. Certainly any commercial site would probably not use stock open source bulletin board software.

There have been a few people commenting on the advantages of it despite me saying it's temporary and in response to spambots. Other than Wellpisser I haven't really seen anyone say it's a bad thing.

What i find odd is the disturbing obsession that certain former posters have about their exclusion. Jelly Bellend is absolutely indignant about being barred. Its a sorry state of affairs when your major ongoing concern in life is an internet forum.

He creeped out Avalon irl, for the second time. He knew the penalty.

AJ was the dumb one here. He thought he was the only one who was 'banned' in January, and blamed it on NG. So he started stalking her.

in fairness she had been stalking him on this forum and probably in real life too. NG is a complete minger. The forum is a better place without her. Joe is at least half way interesting.

fuck her. If she had left him alone and simply put him on ignore then none of it would have happened but she could not content himself with the idea that some don't share her opinion especially when it comes to fag rights. She stalked him on this forum relentlessly so I have no reason to doubt his claims that she took her grudge into the real world and started the business of exposing others personnel details.

Not enormously, and Mutha will make a decision which I'll be happy to live with either way. But Mutha seems interested in knowing what people think about it, and I don't see why he shouldn't hear from people who are in favour of openness, as well as those who would prefer 'the wall'.

Clearly, it's not preventing Dr. Belly or AJ from coming on the site and seeing what is being posted so you might as well get rid of the wall. If you're that concerned about those two, don't post.

Dr Belly has quoted my post above on his site in a manner that suggests he thinks I am in favour of maintaining a block on visibility of the site to anyone other than registered logged-in users.

In case there was any doubt, I am not in favour of maintaining the block.

He also suggests I am kowtowing to Mutha. That is ridiculous. I have disagreed with many things said by Mutha over the years. But I throughly support Mutha’s ultimate right to make the decisions as to the administration of the site he maintains.

It’s a ridiculous idea to prevent potential registrants viewing the board. You have to wonder at what passes for thought in some people’s head.
