I don't know what anybody could do to try to harm me even with my name. I suppose they could lie, but those who do that are usually found out, as well as lying about things nobody cares about. If somebody contacted my clients then the client would correctly think they're a batshit weirdo. Family would be confused or not care, depending on the person. What is it people think these guys can do?

I wouldn't want to be at a piss-up with any of the elite group named above of course, but only because they're annoying. In the case of the one I've met for example, he disrupts others having a normal conversation, much as he does online.
You've forgotten about M finding out my kids' names and threatening to contact them with lies about me? Or when he found out about my husband's death and threatened to disrupt the funeral, so I had to ask the local press not to put the obituary and funeral details on their websites? You seriously think that's not worrying stuff?
I haven't said any of it is ok, it isn't ok and the behaviour can be very weird. I also haven't forgotten, nor did I forget the websites that have been set up, that's why I specifically considered the impact of lies. More mildly than you but I've certainly seen lying myself in person and online, as you know. Whatever you might think about F4J, Jelly Belly and American Joe, they aren't M and threatening to disrupt a funeral is far beyond what any of them would do. It's also not a situation that comes up regularly. I commented that I don't see how they could hurt me specifically and asked what else people thought could be done. It was actually a question, a new direction for the conversation, but apparently multiple posters must attack in response instead of any attempts to answer it. I'm the one who gets no sleep these days, yet it's you lot who are on a half mm fuse.

I didn't mean anything to sound like an attack, troll. But even now it's difficult to hear anyone say anything that appears to minimise the effect that a stalker has. There are enough people around who didn't see those posts, who still claim I'm lying (including the banned people who have been saying that elsewhere in the last month), for me to still be sensitive. I hope you can understand that.

For the record, I agree that those that you're talking about aren't like him. But the stuff they're posting elsewhere is freaky enough to still be disconcerting.

I'm fairly sure Lulu and mutha did intend their comments to sound like an attack leela.

What kinds of things are they posting? What do you fear this little group of left-behinds will do? And where is this elsewhere anyway?

I wouldn't say that I fear any of them. But then I'm not one of their targets. If I was I would be concerned that batshit people could always tip just that bit further over the edge and go the way of M. And banning, (as we saw with him), though the right thing to do, has the potential to be the thing that triggers that.

They have been posting IRL names (and at least one address) of their unfavourite stewbies. Jelly does seem to delete these, but they aren't really being nice.

By the way, Duckie, you got this review from Wellpisser on Amazon:

Format: Paperback

Though the travel info is obviously out-of-date, the literary quotes make this a timeless and thoroughly enjoyable read. Bandraboy, Gascony, France
Jane from LP review called ducky's book a "seminal work".

If the people talking on that other site are the same ones who were posting names (including mine) a couple months ago, I strongly suspected one of them WAS "M".

Well Bashtard has access to NHS items, American Josephine to weapons of mass destruction and Dr Jelly Belly (presumably) to all manner of prescription meds, so I suspect a Novo-duck attack could well be imminent.

Talking of Bashtc, I note that the weirdo is still perusing this site despite the fact that he is officially banned. Since he is seemingly too stupid to set up another account and keep quiet about it then my guess is that the weirdo is sharing an existing handle, Do the duck and BashTC swivel with gay abandon? He will surely be outed soon or later since the idiot cannot help himself.

Harriet, I know you aren't the sharpest tool in the box, but haven't you realized yet that non-registered users ARE UNABLE TO VIEW THIS SITE, that Bashtard is permanently banned and that no new registrations are permitted? If you are asserting that Bashtard and I are sharing my ID, then I suggest that you get yourself a decent lawyer. Perhaps Joe Cummings can help you out on that one.

What's interesting is the intention was never to keep real people from accessing the site, I was just hoping that if the forums aren't visible to spambots we might get fewer registration attempts from them. Was just a bit of an experiment and at some point I was going to make everything visible again and hopefully have some spam solution so that we can turn on emails and registrations again. Seems like there is real desire to keep the forums visible only to registered users. With the thousands of handles already registered it's pretty hard to make this site only visible to the current active posters.

I was just hoping that if the forums aren't visible to spambots we might get fewer registration attempts from them
and yet other sites seems to manage with the same type of forum. What makes this site exceptional?

With the thousands of handles already registered it's pretty hard to make this site only visible to the current active posters.
And you wouldn't want to, I think. People seem to come and go from this place, and there seems to be much celebration when someone who has been absent for a few years pops up in a random thread. I've seen some suggestions to try to trim things based on when handles last posted, but it doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
Things fall apart, it's scientific.

Harriet, I know you aren't the sharpest tool in the box, but haven't you realized yet that non-registered users ARE UNABLE TO VIEW THIS SITE, that Bashtard is permanently banned and that no new registrations are permitted?
Bashstard is reading the site, and you're aware of that, ducky. So the above is just a tad faux naif.
how do you know bash is following this site?

POsts from here are being quoted on "that other site", so yes, someone perma-banned is using a registered handle over here. I don't know if it's bashtard or Belly but it's hard to imagine Belly managing to stop himself posting here, so...
oh, sorry, still catching up

there are a few trolls I see here that may answer that

Because The Duck passes on his messages to me.

Because he's quoting our posts elsewhere.

If the intention is to keep Dr Jelly and F4J permabanned for a while at least, then I expect a few hundred of those will end up banned, they always out themselves. It'll take them a while to get through all of their spares.
