President Donald Trump responded to Sen. Elizabeth Warren's Monday announcement that she is forming an exploratory committee for a potential 2020 presidential run.

During a phone interview with Fox News contributor Pete Hegseth asked Trump whether or not Warren can win.

"Well, that I don't know," Trump responded. "You'd have to ask her psychiatrist."

Trump made this comment during an interview for Fox News' "All-American New Year" special that airs on New Year's Eve.

To be perfectly frank, I thought it was actually funny. Presidential? No. Funny? Yes. And I say that as someone who would probably vote for her.

No, but I was curious. He seems to think that it was a mistake for the Democrats to nominate someone he describes as a greedy criminal in 2016. I wonder if he thinks it would be a mistake for the Republicans to nominate a greedy criminal in 2020.

Warren is not a good pick because unlike Republicans who don't care if Trump lies to them every day and who excuse the fact that he says terrible things about women and their looks and brags that he likes to "grab them by the pussy" the rest of the country probably won't excuse Warren's "ancestry" problem.
I don't see it as that big a deal. Meaning if she can't win with this baggage, she woudn't have been able to win without it, either. This is below the "let's just pretend this never happened" threshold for those otherwise inclined to vote for her.

She overplayed the issue which I didn’t think was a big deal. Fact is she doesn’t poll well and her margins of victory in Massachusetts aren’t very impressive. I think Amy klobuchar is a more appealing candidate myself.

Nope.

Trump is awful.

But who did the left pick to oppose him? The elitist, greedy, snobby, criminal wife of a rapist.

You were then surprised you lost.

I do think there is a wish by Americans to trace their family's line back to be native born, just like us Aussies wanting to be traced back to a family member that was transported as a convict from the old country to Australia.

Just like Johnny Cash was convinced he had Red Indian blood in his veins [He was to trace his family roots back to Scotland], but no person at all would call him a fraud would they?

So he and Ms Warren were wrong, so what, does that mean Cash was not a great singer, and Ms Warren is not suited for the job?

Of course it does not.

And i am amazed that Trump is seen by some as doing a ' great' job, and will run again, and see Ms Warren as a complete ' Fraud' .

I never vote, but in her case, I'd make it a moral stand not to vote. If that's the star the Dems are hitching their dream to, I'll look in again circa '28.

So far, I think Warren is making a brilliant move by making corruption. She's saying that "government has been bought and paid for by big business."

This is smart for 3 reasons:

1. Corruption is a huge problem.

2. Talking about corruption is a way of talking about Trump without making it about Trump.

3. It keeps us out of the identity politics trap.

Warren's message on corruption and corporations could reshape the 2020 Democratic primary
Analysis: The Massachusetts Democrat's focus on reining in big business and cleaning up government could put rivals on the spot if they aren't careful.

Yeah, if it were an eric84 universe, I'd happier due to the improved socialist moral tone, and let's face it, I would have gotten laid double in my life. Dull, dull, dull, but classy -that is the Eric84 brand.

But it's not. It's a Kardashian branding universe, so a more liberal Hillary-reminder is a disaster, not unlike when Rob Kardashian tried to have his own line of $30 socks.

Short version:

People are ga ga brand stupid, but there's a limit.

Ask Rob Kardashian. Or Warren in about 18 months.

So, you're objection to her is that she's a woman. She's a liberal focused on financial regulation. That's a pretty different kind of candidate than Hillary so I assume you just want a dude.

No my objection to her is unelectabilty. I broadly agree with her.

But then sadly, the magic rainbow passed, and I was out of Eric84 land.

I woke up, shaking my head back in America-land where a big electoral determinant is, "does this person remind me of a bad or a good boss?". And by that metric, through no fault of her own, she comes across as a wet blanket of lecturing misery.

I would run far away if Liz Warren was in the glassed in office overlooking the cubicles. You? You'd be delirious. Like, your lucky day, AmIRight?

This is similar to a comment I read in another place a out her - that person wrote that they didnt like Warren because she doesn't sound authentic, because she has taking points, but that person agreed with the policies she is putting forth.

Un-fucking-believable. So much for winning people over with issues and policy. But these comments illustrate BR's point that we live in a Kardashian world, at least for now.

Personally, I think she would be more effective as a cabinet member.

Trump will walk all over her.

Also te GOP brass plan for scenarios and create a play book. In 2008, they had a full play book for Clinton. Obama was nominated and knocked them off their game. IN 2016, they used that very playbook. The Warren playbook is now being written

Warren has excellent ideas. But I fear the Democrats will put up Kamala Harris and Beto O'Rourke. I think Medicare for all would be a huge boon to most Americans and I would fucking hope that the Democratic candidate supports that.

But, a debate between Trump and Biden would be comedy gold.

The Democrats should make their platform attractive to the poor up to the middle class. Medicare for all and $15 an hour minimum wage. I have heard here that many businesses in the South would go bankrupt if they had to pay their workers a living wage. If they have to rely on slave labor, then they should go out of business. It will cause a restructuring of the economy, as more people migrate to urban areas.

I live poverty-land. They fight health insurance like it's Hitler.

And you're right: $15 an hour means only buffet restaurants. Or the Waffle House. I don't even wish that on the kid. Well, I'm waffling on the Waffle House.

Punishing the south after Trump punished the liberal states is more dead end thinking.

My memory of Warren from last campaign is that once you got her off her talking points onto other issues, she waffled as badly as Ocasio Cortez in the headlights. As long as she was badgering Trump or pushing her key issues, she was fine, but on the few times she was asked about other issues she came across as someone who would just agree with whatever the last person said. Not presidential. Luckily for her, the press wasn't interested in pushing her too hard, but in a real campaign, she will get asked those questions, if not in a press interview then on the debate podium.

I wonder how the notion of anything under $15/hr = slave labor will play out, and that If they replace fast food workers with self serve buffets and robots that's good because it only hastens social change.

It's one thing to do fist pumps and say the kinds of things that your base likes to hear, like $15 minimum wage for everyone. But you should be able to think it through to the next step and have a better answer for what happens when those minimum wage jobs are simply eliminated than "I dunno...change is good!"

You paint pictures almost as simplistically as Trump.

What about black food stamp users, do they get to stay in place? What big city do you move to? Do you automatically get a decent wage when you get there? What is a decent wage in a city with high costs of living, anyway? Surely there will be well-paid work waiting in the big city for people who got downsized when they got rid of fast food cash registers!

Who needs answers, just give us more clever slogans.

There could be a program devised that would connect job seekers in Trumpland with employers in big cities. There could be grants given for people to move to industrialized areas.
Having white reservations like Appalachia is not good for the country and not good for the poor white people there.
