Ross is thinking of Mada'in Salah. I haven't been. It has few visitors because tourist visas to Saudi Arabia are unavailable except possible for authorized groups.

What difference does it make whether or not he was an idiot? Are idiots fair game?

yes, I was under that impression that they don't do tourist visas..

best way is to become muslim and get a harje visa..

is easy to become an islamic..
How to Convert to Islam - The Testimony of Faith (Shahada)
Becoming a Muslim is a simple and easy process. All that a person has to do is to say a sentence called the Testimony of Faith (Shahada), which is pronounced as:

I testify “La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasoolu Allah.”

These Arabic words mean, “There is no true god (deity) but God (Allah), and Muhammad is the Messenger (Prophet) of God.” Once a person says the Testimony of Faith (Shahada) with conviction and understanding its meaning, then he/she has become a Muslim.

The first part, “There is no true deity but God,” means that none has the right to be worshipped but God alone, and that God has neither partner nor son. The second part means that Muhammad was a true Prophet sent by God to humankind.
way easier than getting a (non existant) tourist visa..

I saw something recently that mentioned a short visa for people who fly in and out of Saudi with the national airlines. I think its fairly new.

wiki says you saw right..
In January 2018 it was announced that the following nationalities will be eligible for electronic tourist visas:[11]

European Union All Schengen Area member states
Australia
Brunei
Japan
Malaysia

Singapore
South Africa
South Korea
Taiwan
United States and other undisclosed countries on American continent

Women under 30 will have to be accompanied and foreign non-muslim visitors will not be allowed to travel to the City of Mecca and the City Centre of Medina.

Full rules were expected to be published by the end of March 2018.[12] In March 2018 the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage announced that the bylaws were ready for adoption and that they would be published by the end of the first quarter of 2018.[13][14]

On September 25, 2018, the General Sports Authority announced the "Sharek International Events Visa" (SIEV), an electronic visa issued concurrently with the purchase of a ticket for qualifying special sporting events, concerts or cultural festivals through sharek.sa.[15][16] The "sharek" visa allows visitors to enter Saudi Arabia in order to attend the event and its validity ranges from a few days before and after the event itself. Applicants will be able to obtain single-entry, 30-day visas online for 640 riyals ($170.65) and enter from any port of entry.
I'm guessing you aren't a woman under 30

Not just partying. One Saudi prince probably saved him from yet another bankrupcy in 1995.
Westin sold The Plaza to Donald Trump for $390 million on March 27, 1988 (equivalent to $807 million in 2017). Trump commented on his purchase in a full-page open letter in The New York Times: "I haven't purchased a building, I have purchased a masterpiece – the Mona Lisa. For the first time in my life, I have knowingly made a deal that was not economic – for I can never justify the price I paid, no matter how successful the Plaza becomes." Trump installed his wife, Ivana Trump, as the hotel's president. After $50 million in renovations, the hotel was earning a healthy operating income, but not enough to make the payments on its heavy debt load. Trump made plans to pay off the hotel's debt by selling off many of its units as condominiums. A deal was instead reached for the Plaza's creditors, a group of banks led by Citibank, to take a 49 percent stake in the hotel in exchange for forgiveness of $250 million in debt and an interest rate reduction. The agreement was submitted as a prepackaged bankruptcy in November 1992.

In 1995, CDL Hotels International and Saudi prince Al-Waleed bin Talal purchased a controlling stake in the Plaza in a deal that valued it at $325 million (equivalent to $522 million in 2017).

The hotel was sold in 2004 for $675 million (equivalent to $875 million in 2017) to Israeli-owned Manhattan-based developer, El Ad Properties.
Wikipedia.
They don't tell you how big the "controlling stake" was, but it is clear that Trump lost money and that the people he sold his interest to then made out like bandits. Everything he touches turns to shit.

Currently MSNB, and now they are also saying there is video. Turks are reporting it-will see if I can find a link.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nati ... story.html

The report is that the Turks have reported this to the US.

The question remains whether this will remain a he said he said or if Turkey will turn over the tapes to someone.

Apparently the Washington Post is also reporting this.

The Khashoggi affair is only the tip of the iceberg. I wonder how long the Arab civil society will put up with gruesome murders like this and when they will turn against their rulers, 'MBS' in particular. Or perhaps it will never happen because they silently agree with the way things are done in their part of the world.

Civil society in a lot of the Arab world turned against their rulers a few years ago, you may remember. It hasn't worked out all that well.

Now that you say it I remember. The Saudi Arabian rebellion was nipped in the bud. Well perhaps the next time they should concentrate on new ideas like republicanism, democracy, civil liberties and forgo religion. Islamism doesn't work that well, even France wasn't built in a day.

Those ideas were in fact what the Arab Spring was all about. I don't remember any Islamist slogans in Tahrir Square.

I don't know, I wasn't there. And there's a difference between a poor developing country like Egypt and rich countries like Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Emirates. At the time I was under the impression that most of the protests were quite sectarian in nature, perhaps one of the main reasons why things didn't turn out so well. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but apparently in Saudia Arabia it was mainly Shiites against the House of Saud, Sunni Extremists against the House of Saud, a group of educated women fighting for the right to drive cars, and probably a few other groups with unrelated interests. I didn't see a broad "We are the people" movement with well thought-out plans anywhere.

Fiancée, not wife.

Turkey will not want to make public any recordings from bugs or other spyware, although they may share them unofficially with friends. I was thijnking maybe they would leak them as supposedly transmitted from a google watch, but that story wouldn't really hold water.

There is going to be an inspection of the Saudi consulate building, but they won't find any evidence. Why? It will be just like that segment from the film, "Pulp Fiction" where a guy is murdered but then they call THE CLEANER CREW TO CLEAN UP THE MESS AND LEAVE NO EVIDENCE.

Does somebody have a clear idea of the sequence of events?

Did he have an appointment with the embassy or did he walk in unscheduled? Appointment for what time? Or walked in when? When would the 15 men have boarded the planes in Saudi Arabia?

The latest from Trump is that Khashoggi seems to have been murdered by a group of 'Rogue Killers', that have nothing at all to do with the Saudi government.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-10-16/d ... e/10379580

It is really a sad day for democracy that this kind of stuff seems that it will go un-punished, and it does beg the question, why has Trump has no principles at all?

Perhaps Jim, Anno, Nines, Poo, Lost and other Trump fans can tell us?
