Judge Ellis and the Manafort Trial

Post by 2wilzgood » Fri Aug 10, 2018 9:49 pm

He's screwing the proceedings, prejudicing the jury, and fucking with the prosecutors.

Why?

Did someone threaten Ellis? Is he corrupted?

His behavior has been bizarre, and now halting the trial today without an explanation.

We only resolve the Trump embarrassment if the judiciary is uncorrupted. What's up with this Ellis prick?

He is showing his disdain for the entire shit show to the jury. Good for him.

These same asshole prosecutors should be in prison for their previous crimes against justice.

Why in the world do you think that?

The fact that you and Paul Manafort are guilty of it does not mean that everyone is.

Do yu think no one should ever be prosecuted for tax evasion?

Ellis was too much even for "Judge" Napolitano on Fox.

Judge T.S. Ellis returned to the courtroom at 2:22 p.m. ET, more than a half hour after they were scheduled to reconvene. After conferring with attorneys for the prosecution and defense briefly, Ellis said: "Mr. Andres, you may call your next witness."

Prosecutor Greg Andres reminded him the jury still needed to be brought in.

The courtroom erupted in laughter.

There's has been no word from Ellis or the attorneys about the reason for the long delay.

LS, isn't it possible that someone who worked for Trump was a crook before working for Trump?

No one is saying that Trump knew that Manafort was a crook when he hired him. Why do you feel obliged to defend Manafort? The evidence of his own emails is pretty damning.

Here's Mueller's mandate. Note point two.
The Special Counsel is authorized to conduct the investigation confinned by then-FBI
Director James 8. Corney in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on
Intelligence on March 20, 2017, including:
(i) any links and/or coordination bet ween the Russian government and individuals
associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; and
(ii) any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation;and

You used to like "Judge" Napolitano, Jim.
Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano on Wednesday said Judge T.S. Ellis has shown “an extraordinary bias” against prosecutors in the criminal trial of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
“I’m not happy with this judge,” Napolitano said on Fox News. “He’s making too much of the case about him and he’s showing an extraordinary bias against the government. If you feel that negatively about the government, you shouldn’t be on the case. Or you should keep those feelings to yourself, not manifest them."

It seems like they do in fact have a case. As for "justifying their existence", their mandate already does that, and the Manafort case is firmly under their mandate.

Is the judge being so biased to avoid undermining the process, to avoid giving grounds for appeal? It’s seems inconceivable that manafort will be acquited as the evidence against him is overwealming.

I’d prefer to think that than someone had got to him.

So you'll take some unsourced speculation by Mark Levin that the entire Obama cabinet is about to be locked up as gospel. But when you see all the evidence presented at Manafort's trial, you're still convinced he's innocent of the charges against him?

Closing arguments have been made, the jury is deliberating, and a verdict could be reached as soon as this afternoon.

From a news report minutes ago
If Manafort is found guilty, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.
Northern Virginia is a breeding ground for neo-varmintry, so a conviction is not certain. But assuming Manafort is found guilty on at least one of the eighteen crimes charged, Ellis seems predisposed to sentence him to a stern rebuke and a severe wrist slap. Perhaps "time served."

The trial to be held in DC next month promises better entertainment value, judges aside.

The jury has sent a message to the judge asking him to define "reasonable doubt" again.

The jury will decide it. From the little attention I've paid, prosecutors had complied a case years ago but it was decided the taxpayer’s money could be better spent putting someone else on trial, someone more important or with more money to recuperate.

So the work was basically already done for Mueller. He can sit at his desk and jack off while waiting for his govt check to show up. And being a swamp creature that he is he hired a bunch of his friends to get in on the giant pipeline of govt $$$$. His friends will owe him bigtime for getting them in on this guaranteed check going on for years. These lawyers like Mueller are sitting at their desk jacking off waiting for their govt check. They each hired as many relatives and friends as they could too. Hundreds of people sitting at their desk jacking off waiting for their check.

I think Manaforte is guilty.

But the prosecution's main evidence is from a former employee who turned on him for a plea bargain.

So now I am hoping for a hung jury which would increase the entertainment value of the whole shitshow.

Trumps "drain the swamp" reference has been badly misinterpreted. To Clarify : His intention was to improve the environment and make it safe for the predatory monsters that inhabit it. Manafort is a prime example of Trump's failure … His hide is already luggage.

Inre: judicial behavior … While it seems a little bizarre, I wonder if it isn't going to make the defense's predictable appeal a lot harder ?

The judge in Paul Manafort’s fraud trial said Friday he has received threats over the case.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III made the comments as the jury deliberated for the second day, and as he rejected a motion to release information about the jurors. He said he's confident the jurors would be threatened as well if their information was public.

Ellis was responding to a number of news organizations – the Washington Post, New York Times, AP, CNN, NBC, Politico and BuzzFeed – filing a motion to unseal records in the case, including information about the jurors.

Rejecting the request about the jury, Ellis said he doesn’t “feel right” about releasing the names of jurors, adding, “to do so would create a risk of harm to them.”

The jurors in the case scare me a little, because they earlier asked Judge Ellis for a larger jury room that could accommodate the boxes containing transcripts of the prosecution's questions and the replies to them. Did they want to paw through those boxes? I don't know if the judge granted that request, but he did tell the jury that they should rely on their own recollection of testimony given in court. Will they now be arguing with each other over reasonable doubt?
I enjoy reading NorthAmerican's posts. So well-written and interesting except for the dull parts.--Nines

He receives loads of money and didn’t declare it or pay tax on it, right?

Where’s the doubt? I’m not getting it.

Let’s hope he rots in jail for the rest of his life.
That's the kind of bold flavor they enjoy in Albuquerque!

NA, I heard the larger room (the room that would normally be their break room) was to accommodate all the documentary evidence.

Vince, as I understand it, his argument is that only Rick Gates knew how much money Manafort was making, or somehing like that.
