Barnabygate

Post by jedgarandclyde » Tue Feb 13, 2018 3:46 am

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-02-13/b ... ty/9426100

http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/ ... 4z03k.html

The PM of Australia flies out of the country soon, and we are left with the leader of the National's [The junior partner along with the Liberals that form government here] Barnaby Joyce,as the leader of our country.

And the divorced Mr Joyce has become embroiled in controversy involved a staffer that is having his baby.

I wonder should this bloke be left in charge?

It is a private affair and so it has nothing to do politics?

It is a storm in a tea cup?

Or it shows that the nationals are a bunch of redneck hypocrites?

What do you think, or do you have another take on it?

He’s an idiot.

But in Australia they’re almost all idiots. They don’t have to work hard to not be idiots because the people are forced to vote for them. The votes always going to one of two sets of idiots.

But he’s a special idiot.

He's not divorced. The Crusader for family values got a staffer pregnant while presenting himself as a good Catholic family man.

Personally I could care less. Won't be the first man to have a mistress and use his position and other peoples' money to get her a cushy job.

Won't be the last.

I just wish he'd resign, so more important issues could be discussed.

The actual dinky-di corruption is that the mistress was moved from her job in his department and given a better-paying job in another ($190k). The job was not advertised, nor was it filled when she left for yet another department.

This would be against the rules in large businesses and the public service. It is also against this government's 'rules' of ministerial conduct but these are unenforceable except by the government. They aren't even parliamentary rules, let alone legally binding.

The PM, who created these rules, has said that she was not Joyce's partner, as he had not separated from his wife at the time (his wife didn't yet know about the affair, although most of Canberra did).

Aside from everything else, this would definitely not wash with Centrelink if it was two pensioners - they'd have their pensions cut to the married/partnered rate immediately.

Agreed. It sucks.

The more I see of Australian politics, the more corrupt I believe it to be. On both sides.

^More hyperbole from the goldenhaired boy.

I've seen things like this happen in the private sector and the public sector. And in the judiciary. Only difference: The men concerned didn't get outed by a tabloid. Wonder what Barnaby did to have the Daily Terror sooled on him. He's on their side after all.

I agree Joyce is a hypocrite. I still think people are less interested in the principle involved than they are in putting Barnaby out of business.

More gesture politics.

Who wrote this?
BARNABY Joyce has not only left his new lover pregnant, he has left the government facing nasty questions about what it spent to look after her.

The Deputy Prime Minister, who campaigned on “family values”, has discredited himself by leaving his wife and daughters.

But more dangerously, he has compromised the government and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who is struggling to answer legitimate questions about how much the affair with media adviser Vikki Campion disrupted the government and how much taxpayers’ money was spent on handling it.
Andrew Bolt.

What he does with his dick is none of my or anyone else’s business, what he has done is no different from what thousands of men and for that matter wines have done before in business and politics.

If there is any inappropriate use of taxpayers money he will go down for it and so he should but otherwise it is not relevant.

Amusingly there have been rumors of Barnaby’s pregnant girlfriend for about 18months, which unless you are a giraffe or dugong doesn’t really add up. But the Canberra insiders have known for quite some time about the affair.

And every photo like that is being dug out and will be published until he calls it a day.

I have to say though, it sure looks to me like Ms Campion wasn't exactly trying to avoid it. Not exactly posing or dressed in a professional manner.

There has been an unwritten rule for a long time in the Canberra press gallery that unless there is a real public interest component that pollies indiscretions are off limits. But if you had been following Tony Windsor tweets and the rumor sources it has been relatively open for some time just no media outlet wanted to Run the whole thing. Eventually Tony Windsor’s sniping and rumors of inappropriate use of resources related to it built up so much that one of them broke and went with it.

But amongst journals and pollies in Canberra there is still a what happens in Canberra stays in Canberra code where it involves Affairs and indiscretions of that nature.

It's not only Canberra. It's everywhere. There are plenty of these sorts of things with public figures. They don't get reported either.

I only hope that that backlash from the public from the Nat's very weak 'standing behind their leader' response impacts too much on the Lib's.

I can only hope that most voters have forgotten about Barnaby's actions by then.

Yeah, I remember that too. I can't claim the credit though. I thought it was a rumour made up by that wankstain, Tony Windsor.

As for 'Canberra insiders knew' ... yeah, but they also 'knew' that Tim Mathieson was gay, and that Abbott was rooting Credlin.

I don't get the rage over Campion being moved to another position. If this were the private sector, everyone would be adamant that if it wasn't appropriate for them to remain working together, the junior participant had a right to be moved to an equivalent or better position.

The first move probably fell into that category the second move was more questionable where they created a media advisor role for someone who already had a media advisor.

Yes, if it wasn’t Barnaby who is a one man headline in any case and it wasn’t the deputy PM and leader of the junior party in the ruling coalition it wouldn’t have gone anywhere but it is and so it is headlines.
