If union executive see a political party that has policies that are not in the best interests of their members, like wage freezes, Hudak's million person firing, loosening of union rules, well then they have an obligation to work to defeat that party.

FYI - I'm upper management and I don't like unions, but I get how they work.

It was a 100,000 firing, but I get your point.
It made John Tory's promise to fund religious schools seem almost quaint.
Worse he seems to have made a half decent mayor.
Now you see why I keep banging on about not electing an angry white guy as leader of the party.
Fuckin' SoCons.

Yeah Tory has been a good mayor. He would have done well as premier as well. I voted for him against Wynne when they ran against each other in my ridIng, but liberal Toronto had no interest in public funding of religious schools. That was a major policy blunder. Wynne has been a good MPP, even as premier she spends a lot of time making the rounds. She’s at every school event in the riding.

That doesn't surprise me, wasn't she an education policy advisor as well as a teacher before she entered politics?
Makes her a good MPP not Premier.
Tim Hudak is maybe the nicest politician I think I've ever met, and his constituents loved him, but turn the camera on him and angry white guy.
I have to admit if the party does the unthinkable and elects Ford I will probably let my membership lapse.
Andrew Scheers not exactly blowing my or anyone else's doors off either.
I'm waiting for Rona to come back or for Lisa to dramatically improve her French before I think our fortunes will turn around federally.

Homer does Andrew Scheer get 1 or 2 cracks at becoming PM before the Party moves on to another leader.

...depends on how well he does in first election.
I think as long as he doesn't lose seats he'll be around for 2.

I had high hopes as he did a very good job holding Morneau's feet to the fire over the bill to make changes to incorporation laws for small businesses.
The Lib's really backed down and sent a watered down bill forward.....good job!
But since then it's all what a lightweight trust fund idiot Trudeau is.
I know this, but the fact is alot of Canadian's disagree with my assessment and it just makes the party look shrill.
I get emails from the party almost every day pointing out Trudeau's latest gaffe, character flaw or PC idiocy.
Well I don't need to be convinced....what I want to know is what is your platform for reducing taxes, deficit reduction, immigration, getting rid of the new CPP tax, how do we get natives out of 3rd world living conditions, getting pipelines built, dealing with a Trump administration etc etc.......not how upset I should be because Trudeau thinks we should use the term humankind.

Brad Wall's French is nowhere near acceptable.

He has consistently said he's not interested in federal politics, but of course, you never know.

I liked Wall until he took it on himself to be a one man federal opposition party, good idea or not.

No way he'd make a acceptable and winnable leader without French

I didn't mean I liked him for a federal leader ....i liked him because of he gave his rather low profile province a much higher profile....and understood that fiscal responsibility can be sold to the population at large.
Look we always have the uphill battle of being the party that cuts....of course its easy to be popular when you are giving things away, especially with someone else's money.
We have a harder sales job to the gen pop.
I thought Wall did a good job of doing that in SK.
I don't think Scheer (or the party at large) is doing a good job of that right now.

I was kidding a bit with Wall. He was a popular premier but a first class asshole when dealing with other provinces. His position on carbon taxes is also laughable and ultimately will hurt Saskatchewan. Premiers generally don't fare well on the national stage.

Brown is out.

If I lived in Oterrible, and wanted plunk some money down on a PC Party membership, my ranked ballot would be as follows:

1) Tanya Granic Allen
2) Doug Ford
3) Caroline Mulroney
4) Christine Elliot

I don't live in Ontario, so my opinion means dick.

If you didn't get the joke, I'd be voting for the worst option, so hopefully the PC's have a better chance at losing the general.

Just like with the Federal Conservatives, if I had decided to join just so I could get a vote, I would have voted Brad Trost as my number 1, and then Kellie Leitch as my number 2.

Looks like it’s not 100 percent done deal, the ballots apparently are a mess - they can’t figure out what ridIng at least 3000 ballots should be counted to. These clowns couldn’t run a lemonade stand but are going to run Ontario. Or maybe not, if they may have picked the one candidate that Wynne could beat. What a disaster. It’s sad what the Ontario PC party has become, a cluster of moronic malcontents that would reject a top notch candidate like Christine Elliott and vote for Ford. And it’s doubly sad for Ontario, the pathetic choices for leader we have. Almost enough to make me want to get involved myself, although there’s no chance I could stand it.

Lots of ndp govts have been sensible and well run. This was the argument used in 1990 and it failed for the liberals in Ontario spectacularly. Their divine right to govern despite being terrible at it is why you’re in this mess

What you don’t understand eric is that the NDP in Ontario is different from what yOu have out west where there are just 2 main parties - one left and one right and where you get moderate ‘NDP’ governments. In Ontario 2 have two Center left parties, one mainstream and one far out. The moderate left tend to belong to the liberals, it is the extreme left that gravitate to the NDP. The Ontario liberals have bee moving left which has been a disaster, and they have pushed the Ontario NDP even farther.

You remember the leap manifesto? That’s the crowd that run the ontario NDP.
