Cheerleading a dynasty? Clearly you know nothing about Canadian politics.
Would this dropkick have been elected if his last name wasn't Trudeau?
Why not? He’s a good communicator, bilingual, had a very strong team. The two guys before him had more credentials and failed miserably.
HRH would be shocked that you said "guys". He would lecture you to say people or persons, you sexist troglodyte. It's all over Amerikkkan TV now, you pathetic bastards.

Trudeau has been underestimated his entire politAl career. Rightie freaks try and attack him and it doesn’t stick. And they lose. Like losers. Only Mulroney got it when he warned the conservatives what Trudeau had. Which is charisma. Yeah, he’s no brain surgeon. But he doesn’t have to be. This is politics, not brain surgery. No one is denying his name didn’t help him. By there is more to Trudeau than his name. That’s what the morons and freaks on the right don’t get. His charisma will last his m until it doesn’t. No politIcan lasts forever. But unless there is a major blow up, liberals are a shoo in next election. Especially if the right continues the underestimate him.

That's just skirting the isue. He is the head of state who's father was a head of state. If 100 people lived in Canada, this might might make sense. Not in a nation of 36 million.

You really don't understand how politics works in Canada do you, misanthrope?

Of course name recognition almost always helps someone with their political endeavours and it most definitely helped Trudeau become the leader of the Liberal Party. But the reason he became Prime Minister is because Canadians voted out Conservatives across the country.

Seriously dude, I don't think anyone in Canada of any political persuasion thinks Trudeau wasn't helped by his name. But what we has helped more than name recognition was the deep contacts and relationships he built up across the country with liberal political elites and powerbrokers, again helped by family contacts. That is how politics works. And Trudeau works hard. He ran as the underdog for liberal candidate in his NDP leaning Montreal riding and won both even though he was dismissed as a lightweight. He was opposition MP for a number of years and was noted for his dedicated work both in his riding and party. He ran for leadership as an underdog and beat candidates with much more impressive resumes. You don't win a leadership convention in the Westminster system on name recognition, you win by networking with and winning over the riding powerbrokers and membership. The liberals were 3rd going into last election, Conservatives heaped scorn on Trudeau, the big blue machine and Harper some of the most cut throat political operatives we have ever had, dismissing him as a lightweight. But they lost.

All true. Misery thinks Justin just showed up one day and decided to be PM and the people happily flocked to him. Didn't work that way. Had to work hard to become PM. I'm not his biggest supporter but you do have to respect him what for how he got there.

Hilarious! You can't think of any argument for someone whose greatest political asset is his last name other than he is wearing your team's uniform so first you try to deflect to Stephen Harper and when you got called on that you now try to deflect to Donald Trump.

An argument for what? Your argument appears to be Trudeau simply put his name to the ballot, declaring himself the political heir to Pierre Trudeau and therefore you must vote for him. Have you consulted the Canadians you know to find out if that actually happened?

It seems that misanthrope and smoker have confused the word nepotism with the word dynasty. Considering they mean radically different things, it's somewhat surprising they've done that but hey... misanthrope is still waiting for the Toronto real estate market crash of 2016 that he predicted, right?

Toronto is getting fistfucked at the moment. Nice jobs print last week, too. Crash of 2016? I think that you need to go back and check what I said when I said it, princess.

What has any of that got to do with your PM having his name as his greatest asset?

It seems that misanthrope and smoker have confused the word nepotism with the word dynasty.
I am speaking about modern democracies behaving like tribal Waziristan with these stupid family political dynasties where the greatest asset a political figure can produce is their last name.

but hey... misanthrope is still waiting for the Toronto real estate market crash of 2016 that he predicted, right?
Eric84 tries to defend his family political dynasty candidate Justin Trudeau's election by deflecting to Stephen Harper & Trump while you try a deflection even further afield to the Toronto Real Estate Market.

An argument for what?
An argument against family political dynasties in a modern democracy where Canada ends up with a PM with a mediocre academic record, dismal work record as a Trust Fund baby and really dismal legislative record as a PM especially considering what his father accomplished.

I can live with the neighbor being so stupid with their Kennedy/Bush/Clinton family political dynasties but when Canada does the same it is pathetic and embarrassing for us.
