President Zoolander

Is Trudeau as vain and stupid as he seems?

No, he's been underestimated by people like you his whole life, to their detriment. His greatest strength is his charisma, he genuinely cares about people and the country, he comes across as earnest and honest, and in general Canadian voters have responded to that. Yeah, he has his haters, but so far they are in the minority. He's no intellectual heavyweight, but he doesn't have to be - he surrounds himself with smart people like Christina Freedland and leverages their strengths.

Trudeau doesnt seem particularly vain to me -- i'm sure he's aware that he is, and has been portrayed as, a heartthrob -- and seems to be rather humble about it.

Arpo seems to think good looking people are stupid. it's an odd accusation coming from someone who posts some of the stupidest posts on TP.

Not especially but probably the same as any good looking trust fund man with a hot wife and beautiful children cashing in on his family name.

However he is is embarrassing for Canada for two reasons: First he is an example of the family political dynasties like Bush or Clinton or Kennedy etc and second compared to his father well like him or loath him Pierre Trudeau was blessed with major league grey matter but when it comes Justin it appears he inherited his father’s height and his mother’s intellect.

If you were going to interview Justin Trudeau you would want answers to questions like:

1. Why before graduating did you leave Engineering at École Polytechnique de Montréal? Did you flunk out?

2. Why before graduating did you leave environmental geography at McGill University? Did you flunk out?

3. After your professional acting career of playing Major Talbot Mercer Papineau in “The Great War” how is the acting gig working out?

4. Why did you leave your teaching job after less than two years?

5. Other than cashing in on your Daddy’s name in politics and cashing in your trust fund what else do you think you are good at?

Academically he isn’t even close to his father; Pierre Trudeau was Universite de Montreal, Harvard Law School, London School of Economics & Institute Politiques De Paris rather than a failed high school drama teacher and snowboard instructor.

I don’t agree with any of Pierre Trudeau’s political stuff other than his social stuff & Canadian human rights etc but there is no friend or enemy that doesn’t respect the guy’s brain. The Quebec separation debates where he would wipe the floor with everyone and then in the media Q & A answer all the questions in both French and English were legendary.

Just look at Justin Trudeau’s political accomplishments before becoming Prime Minister verses Pierre Trudeau:

Pierre Trudeau was selected at age 48 to succeed Lester Pearson as Liberal leader – and hence prime minister Pierre had served less than three years in Parliament. This included just over a year as Pearson’s parliamentary secretary and one year as justice minister, where he introduced landmark legislation that decriminalized gay sex, legalized contraception and abortion, and toughened gun control and drunk-driving laws.

Justin Trudeau had four-and-a-half years of parliamentary experience, but has kept a relatively low profile in the House of Commons: he has held no major critic portfolios or introduced any legislation. Instead, the party has used his charisma and drawing power as a major fundraising tool.

It is pathetic and embarrassing to Canada when your Prime Minister’s biggest political “electability” asset is his last name.

However all the above said Justin Trudeau looks like a freaking gigantic Statesman verses Trump the goofball so he kind of gets a free pass from everyone for not being Donald Trump.

If Justin Trudeau has a superpower it is LUCK because anyone would look great compared to the guy over the neighbor's fence Donald Trump.

I never even mentioned Stephen Harper etc, the above are your words not mine.

Now here we have a classic example of the Eric84 the partisan puppet trying to frame lack of real world experience, intellect & talent as ok for his person but a negative for the other team’s person.

It is pathetic and embarrassing to Canada when your Prime Minister’s biggest political asset is his last name and he doesn’t measure up to his father who made that last name what it was in Canadian politics.

But when we look south at the States we realize it could be worse however that doesn’t make Justin Trudeau anything special to anyone other than Eric84 & the rest of his partisan puppet cult but just less pathetic than Donald Trump.

I'm just giving necessary context on your 'interview questions' for prospective PMs. Bottom line: there's no ideal resume to become PM and you can come from a wide variety of backgrounds. As a member of the modern right, you should probably stop underestimating him or you'll be whining about him for annual trips home to Canada for a long, long time.

No you are not; what you are doing is what ever partisan puppet does when the shortcomings of their person is pointed out which is try to point at the same shortcoming in the other team.

However you pretend the shortcoming in your person are an asset and the same a liability in the other team.

I didn't even mention the other team since their shortcoming don't change anything out Justin Trudeau's shortcomings.

It is still pathetic for Canada as a modern democracy to go the route of the family political dynasty where a political figures greatest asset is not his intellect or accomplishments but his last name.

Hey jedgarandclyde the village idiot, read what I post rather than listening to the nutty squirrel on your shoulder. Where in the history of this board have I ever said "we should go for Trump"? Those are your words not mine.

BTW The fact that Trump is a clown and Stephen Harper is Eric84's evil nemesis doesn't change the fact that Justin Trudeau is a failed high school drama teacher and ex-snow board instructor with a Trust Fund whose only real political asset is his last name. It is freaking embarrassing and pathetic for a modern democracy in the 21st century.

Again, not a partisan. I don't belong to a political party and generally don't think much of how Trudeau as performed as prime minister. I'm just sceptical that private sector experience has much to do with political success and gave you a couple of examples of Tories who didn't have 'real world experience' before going into politics. Harper had a 10 year run as PM so he must have done something well despite a pretty thin resume for private sector jobs. I think it's sticking in your craw that he beat Harper and the Tories like a drum in the last election.

Hahaha! What a moron! Hey eric84, you were the one that brought up Harper and no one else but of course you did what partisan puppets do when someone points out a obvious flaw in their Dear Leader; immediately deflect by attacking the other team for the same flaw.

So, tell us, Smoker the ideal resume of a political leader. This seems important to you so I assume you have well considered ideas on the subject....

Justin Trudeau is what would happen if the song “Imagine” took human form and then ate a Tide Pod.

Ben Shapiro.

Everything he said, basically. It's amazing to see people cheerleading a dynasty in Canada.

Cheerleading a dynasty? Clearly you know nothing about Canadian politics.

Would this dropkick have been elected if his last name wasn't Trudeau?

You are frequently rude. You are just passive aggressive. And them you give yourself a pat on the back for it. Smoker treated you like the idiot you are.

Why not? He’s a good communicator, bilingual, had a very strong team. The two guys before him had more credentials and failed miserably.

If he was a member of the NDP or another party, no, but because he was a Liberal Party member, yes he would have. The Canadian electorate wanted to get rid of Stephen Harper and the Conservatives that much that any Liberal would have won in 2015. If Justin's last name wasn't Trudeau he would have won, just with a smaller majority of seats in Parliament.
