Boris Johnson - breaking news!

Post by Chi_Rup » Thu May 16, 2019 1:30 pm

The Evening Standard (just in time for today’s edition) announces that Boris Johnson WILL STAND for Conservative leader this year.

Who saw this twist coming? How will we contain our excitement.

Apparently, in this Game Of Cunts they are being kind to Theresa May by allowing her to stay Prime Minister longer than Gordon Brown so she can announce her retirement next month and have a new twit in charge by conference in September.

Fine, it’s not like there’s any pressing work to be done. Plot away.

Boris Johnson v Jeremy Corbyn would be a special contest. Two people who under and sane evaluation shouldn’t be anywhere near the top job.

We’re doomed. As bad as it is now - and the last 3 years have been an horrific shambles - there’s always scope for things to get worse. And who can doubt that they will?

I think Boris is great value.

I can't wait for PM questions on Wednesday lunchtimes.

The only question is who's going to be in the hot seat and who is going to be challenging.

Corbyn has been a complete lightweight up against May.

I doubt Lib Dems will do as well as 2010.

Ian Hislop called Johnson “Britain’s Berlusconi” and it would do you good to keep an eye on Italian politics because we’re only a few years behind them.

It would be great if the government would collapse.

It would mean something was happening.

Theresa has become like a huge unfloatable 'jobbie' in the toilet.

I could take the analogy further.

Cameron used to slap Corbyn around for fun and Nay has been so utterly rubbish that she can’t even manage that. I do think johnson, if he wins, and surely he will be stopped from getting to the final 2, will be hopeless at PMQs. He has no discipline and can’t think on his feet. At least May has the former

He beat Ken Livingstone (twice) by making chuckles for the residents of London’s leafy suburbs. His team called it The Doughnut Strategy.

He was really very, very bad at mayoring London, for every Olympics you have the riots of 2011. Presiding over the worst air quality in Europe which kills nearly 10,000 people each year is a shameful record. And the cable car across the Thames of course.

His colleagues describe a near decade of utter stasis, with no decisions made beyond a handful of high profile vanity projects and his deputies doing all the work. As they say, everyone loves Boris until they meet him.

My understanding is that Conservative MPs keep voting until two candidates can be put to the party membership.

There it's one member one vote.

And Boris is very popular amongst the Conservative party members.

So, best way to keep Boris out?

Enrol in the party, hold your nose, and vote for not-Boris.

There are many of us who just can't see Boris as a serious leader i'm afraid, on the day we in Australia reflect on the death and achievements of our former leader Bob Hawke, it does show what an very small person Boris is by comparison.

Boris as PM?

Seriously?

Dudes, have a listen to this:

https://soundcloud.com/times-comment/th ... is-johnson

Times Red Box podcast 'The Case for Boris'.

I've been reading and listening to various things about him. General feeling is that the party might like him, and that'll probably get him down to the final two, but MPs dislike him. Probably enough to not let him get in. His likely partner in the two horse end race, is considered amongst Tories to be Jeremy Hunt. Much preferred by MPs.

But where is Gove in all this? Depends on whose ticket he plans to ride sidecar. He is being very careful backstage - holding quiet little 'clinics' for Tory MPs needing advice, booking rooms at Portcullis House at lunchtimes for these clinics. Quietly getting on with putting forward work for his department. The only department at the moment in the civil service actually covering their brief. He's a solid minister and a successful one (and a cunt), he'll be somewhere in the mix.... maybe the 'solid safe pair of hands' type for Chancellor.

My money therefore is on Jeremy Hunt for PM and Michael Gove for Chancellor. Both Tory cunts.

I would think if the MPs are true to their instincts, knowing he’s a shambolic cunt, they’ll make sure he doesn’t get to the final 2 put before the membership. If he gets through to the final 2 there’s every chance the members, who are all insane, will pick him. They picked IDS after all and now they’re evenven more senile and right-wing.

Gove is at least smart. There’s more to being smart than using archaic English quips and tossing in Latin phrases at every opportunity. The talent pool is ridiculously shallow, isn’t it? What about Bob Nonentity, the international development minister? He can actually speak in sentences.

I'm glad I never got to find out how my old man would have voted. That could have caused additional ruptions.

I do remember getting slightly annoyed with my mother about not being interested in the Referendum, but she died that August, so in hindsight I guess she had other things on her mind.

Bob Hawke is the longest serving Labor PM ever in Australia.

To some he is best remembered for leading protests against the whites only South African rugby teams during the Apartheid years, others may know him for his many other achievments.
