Sorry. Since Napster in the late '90s, I mostly don't buy albums; just songs. Primary exception being I own everything by Tricky. His most recent one was really good- more like his old stuff than the last few.

but in the UK he only really had that one small moment in about mid to late 90s
so, basically the best musicians don't chart and carry on doing their thing

that is such a good song and video
better response to the London riots (small part of the video) than Plan B, though I like that too.

I really have to stop watching the x factor

Have you heard "The Mouse and the Mask" by Danger Doom? You might like it. I think Cee Lo and Kweli both have nice tracks on it.

Nice pick. Hard to give it to this one when their pre-1993 debut was a bit better.

Love Dangerdoom - superb album and Dangermouse is a wizard. Sofa King is one of my top 5 Doom tunes and the collaborations are excellent. The Kweli tune is great.

Most people prefer Bizarre Ride to Labcabin, but I differ although I love them both. J Dilla is my favourite hip hop producer, and he was absolutely at the top of his game for Labcabin...

Their cartoonish style in the first album was tempered with world-weary cynicism by the second and their rhyming had got slicker. This is my favourite Pharcyde tune and one of my favourite hip hop tunes ever:

Still love Bizarre Ride though - saw them (except Slim Kid 3) performing it in London this year. Officer ('I got a letter from the DMV the other day', as you pointed out) is a great tune.

I'd rate 6 on Tomska's list. I was only listening to 'Walking Wounded' the other day and rediscovering it again. What an album! Leftfield never left the playlist either.

It's so damn hard a question as I really love a lot of trancey stuff as well-

Children of the Bong
System 7
Eat Static
Empirion
DJ Hallucinogen (the album Twisted is INSANE).
Banco De Gaia
Lab 4- the album 'Evilution' (that's how they spell it) is amazing.

Then of course, I just love the Foo's and 'Wasted Light' is a stonker of an album, as is 'One by One'.

Not to mention Metallica.....

What about Alice in Chains 'Dirt', or NIN 'Pretty Hate Machine' (think this was in the 80's though).
