Lots of people, mostly young, mostly women, visit temples in traditional clothes and take one another's photos. There are dress hire places near some of the popular spots.

Great pics. Coming of Age Day was Jan 9th this year. That might be why you saw so many young women in kimonos. It's customary for women who will turn 20 during the year to go to temple or shrine on Coming of Age Day.

Men too, but sometimes not dressed up
That's the kind of bold flavor they enjoy in Albuquerque!
