I don't even get mad anymore when I have a bad week. I used to bang my head in the shower on Monday morning when I went 4-12 with a grand total of 42 points.

Now I just try to relax and let the nifty energy flow.

I’m with you Nines. Just letting the failure wash over me while I whistle a happy tune.

I think this attitude will be key this season. Packers are fucked. Aaron is broken. Oh and I will be in Cuba for the next 3 weeks so I’m planning to make all my picks way in advance. (Internet sucks there and also, vacation!) Throws my usual picking strategy out the window. But I guess it couldn’t get much worse than this week!

The same thing has already happened before, even this season.

It's a quirk in the rule book, not a huge anti-Jet conspiracy or pro-Patsy conspiracy by the NFL. But it is the harshest penalty in football.

If you fumble at the one-foot line and the ball crosses the goal line and then goes out of bounds, you lose.

Holy cow, Tony Romo is one irritating football announcer.

I might hate him worse than Joe Buck announcing a World Series.

I haven't watched much live football this year. Been working out of town and besides the anthem kneelers can kiss my ass.

Yes, he's awful. Almost to the point of unwatchability.

I posted a diatribe on the matter in the NFL thread the first time I heard him.

Well last night's game screwed everybody hard, except Formula and sode.

It is a suspicious faux-forget from sode, like the anno incident from a month ago.

Formula, otoh, knew which penalty the refs weren't going to call at the end of the game, so props to him.

But that makes no sense.

If you know the underdog will win, you put the max points on it.

If you really aren't sure, you put 1 point on it, and maybe you'll get lucky. That way you can't lose anymore than skipping it, but you might actually pick up a point.

As I said before, if this is such a great "underhanded" strategy, then everybody should do it ... every week!

It's open to all.

I wouldn't call it 'underhanded strategy' when missing the Thursday game pick and the underdog wins.

I'd call it a fortuitous fuckup.

I don't mind his color commentating, but I wish he didn't retire, and was still a free agent, coz maybe the Pack would've signed him so could fill in for Rodgers now that his season is done.

4thand9er slipped up this week and fell to 5th, being passed by niner and formula.

Nine points separate the top five after bum rush opened the door.

Seems I'll have a three week run atop the leader board. Nine of this week's picks are practically gimmees, the other four fairly straightforward. Not much movement.

Week 9, on the other hand, has ten toss-ups, and will see wholesale shuffling of the ladder with the unfortunate plummeting from contention.

In the meantime, I fart in your general direction.

I asked myself who would know the most about the Who Cares Bowl between Miami and Baltimore? And then it came to me: the Great Anno!

So I channeled Anno, and chose what he chose: Miami with a confidence level of two.

Anno came through for me. Thanks, Anno.

Well done, Lady J.

Cheers for that, L'Soul, but it didn't appear that he fumbled on the 1 yard line from memory - He was in control of the pig skin and actually hit that silly little Marker when in control so I call it yet more leeway for the Pats and Stamp on poor ickle Buffalo. That's how it seems to me anyway!

This is the other 9/11, from Ecclesiastes: I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
