It does sound a bit like "Rage Against Alice In Chains" on Mogodon.

Nice one Janie. Definitely a bourbon song, has a nice blue-grass feel to it.

Here's mine, St. Vincent's latest album. This woman is amazingly talented, and you can hear David Byrne's influence from when they collaborated on her last album:

A fantastic throwback song for my walking training (e.g. the punishing, long hikes I am doing in the hills/forest):

While we're at it, these are a couple other favourites on the hiking iPod:

Flaming Lips have released a companion album to Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon'. Streaming now, link is in the article. Not sure if I like it...

http://pitchfork.com/news/54568-the-fla ... -the-moon/

OK, ummm, no. I've given it 10 minutes, it's just random noises overlaying a cover of the songs on the album. No vocals. Not for me, but maybe someone here might like it.

I did like the Yoshimi album though.

goofy video, but the new Afghan Whigs is way beyond my expectations. Sounds more like the last three Twilight Singers albums than it does the last Afghan Whigs album.

Hold my hand
I am afraid
Please pray for me
When I am away

Comfort the girl
Help her understand
No memory
No matter how sad
And no violence
No matter how bad
Can darken the heart
Or tear it apart

Take my hand
When you are scared
And I will pray
If you go back out there
Comfort the man
Help him understand
That no floating sheet
No matter how haunting
And no secret
No matter how nasty
Can poison your voice
Or keep you from joy

I'm too lazy to scroll through 17 pages to see if it was posted before, but here's El Manicero (The Peanut Vendor), filmed in Havana in the 1930s. When I saw the close-ups of the trumpeter at about 1:10 and what I think may be the same band member playing the maracas at 2:45, two questions came to mind: What is that type of shirt called? and "Who ironed all those ruffles?

Note: maní is "peanut" and "peanuts" -- both singular and plural -- in some dialects of Spanish.

I enjoy reading NorthAmerican's posts. So well-written and interesting except for the dull parts.--Nines
